Starting a STR Archer that will be for PvE exclusively and maybe Wars; but not 1v1 at all.
1. I was leaning toward Fire, but doesn't Cold work well with Bows?
2. And please, which specific skills should I get immediately to help with leveling? And what should I be shooting for after that.

STR bows are dependant of the crit and the physical attack. The imbue is a bit less important than for Int/nuker builds.
It's a matter of choice : 'slow them and kill them far' or 'toast them faster'
If you build for PvE, you cant take Ice to slow mobs and for the physical protection (and use less HP pots).
If you build for war, you could encounter Ice-immune opponents and regret that extra damage of fire imbue.
If you can afford the SPs, StrongBow is also useful in PvE as starter against champions. Crits with StrongBow+Imbue are really powerful.
