Hm. I dont think I have seen anyone discuss this point of view, so ill go ahead and see what you all have to say.
Is it linear how much dmg/health you have? By this I mean...
In PvP
Pure STR = Excellent of health, Bad damage.
STR Hybrid = Good health, Mediocre damage.
1STR:1INT = Fair health, Fair damage.
INT Hybrid = Mediocre health, Good damage.
Pure INT = Bad health, Excellent Damage.
If you think about your stats and balances vs your damage, its almost like an equation, an inversely proportional equation. More dmg = less health. More health = less dmg. If I create a pure int character, i will do mondo dmg with not good health. If i create a pure str character, i will have mondo health with not good damage. Doesnt the health of a str char compensate for the damage lost by not going int? Doesnt the dmg of an int character compensate for the health lost by not going str? Doesnt the extra health of an int hybrid compensate for the damage lost? Doesnt the extra damage of a str hybrid compensate for the health lost?
Basically, does it REALLY matter what build you take?
Consider these things WITHOUT factoring in gear. If you must, then pretend everyone wears the exact same, PROTECTOR. If you factor in alchemy, wouldnt this idea still apply? An int would gain same dmg/def/life increase as a str would. Wouldnt the dmg/health ratio still be inversely proportional?
Please at least think before you post. Please only post CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, with reasons and PROOF for your answer, NOT OPINIONS. Thanks for takin the time to read and answer.

How...is pure STR bad damage?
DO YOU KNOW WHAT STR STANDS FOR?
STRENGTH!
And increasing your strength only will get you HIGH damage and HIGH health..but only low MP..
But you don't need MP really, You only need to use your imbue and maybe a skill or two for a kill, since you hit so high.
I just made a pure STR fire blader..it owns..
Only lv14, still owns though lol..
All I need to get a quick kill is Fire Imbue and illusion chain, then bam, its dead

Blades do very little damage. Once you get to lvl 32, you will see, bladers suck for PVE and PVP.

Im sorry but your statements are not exactly correct. Although stat points greatly affect your damage output and health, the weapon and or shield you decide to use also play an important factor.
For example, pure strength glaive certainly does not deal low damage. On the contrary, they are probably one of the most high damaging builds in the game. Strength blades do do low damage but they compensate it because they have the shield which adds more defense and lets them block.
Strength hybrids may deal a little bit more damage than pure strengths but the health they lose due to their hybridization usually affects the outcome of a fight rather than their damage output.
Pure ints also have high damage output similar to the glaive but have lower health. This is usually why they lose in PvP against a pure strength glaiver(Not saying they always lose but mostly unless they posess uber gear).
Also IMO alchemy helps int based builds more than strength based ones. For example, you have a hybrid int nuker at +100% magical balance and also with health near a strength hybrid, it would do tons of damage yet it could tank enough damage to pot back up. That I think would have a better chance against a pure strength who just has even more hp.
Also whoever posted that blades suck in PvP and PvE isn't a blade or hasn't fought one when capped(not saying i have either), but i have heard that fully farmed pure strength blade is almost impossible to kill. Plus they get double stab.

good bladers at level cap own, but not every blader is a good one, on average, the glaiver will take on the blader.
STR hybrids lose physical defence as well, and lose crit damage. So in the end, the health difference is sort of big, and the crit damage they lose crit damage for higher average damage. Crits are the killers, the without crits, its a pot fight :X

good analysis partyhat, but also weapons are just as important to damage numbers in pvp or pve, so it ends up not being linear to dmg/health
for example spear with its high mag attack and high mag reinforce you will notice even with masteries and lvl and gear being same that int hybrid spears (100% magic balance and ok hp ) still do more damage than pure int swords with 110% magic balance and lower hp,
also pure str blade has slightly lower hp than pure str glaive but their damage is much lower, but just like swordies they can block attacks with their shield and kd their opponents.

its all equal and balances..
full str get mor hp but less dmg and full int gets more dmg and less hp.
so it covers each other...and equals out.
The person with better gear / buff wins (i say this in everypost cuz its so dam true)

TRIPLE. STAB. ....
im so happy im a pure str glavie, and my friend is a pure str blade.

Yes you all make very good points, and now that I step back for a minute and think about what some of you said, my analysis is pretty wrong. I was a little naive postin somethin that rediculous without REALLY thinkin about it.

Haha yeah thats what I meant a single then double. Anyways, is there anyway to fit all four stabs into one knockdown?

I like the way those Koreans or whoever made this game figured this game out. You could endlessly discuss about it without actually figuring out what is the best build. There is no such thing as a general best build.
Considering this, I understand your question: "Does it REALLY matter what build you take?"
But YES, it does. There IS such a thing as personal best build. It depends on what you want to do with your character. Compete a lot in guild wars? Wanna own on PvP? It takes different builds to be good at different kinds of battles.
Your personal best build depends on what you want to do with your character.
