On Pure Int spear does most dmg, but s/s gives you BR and nukes don't crit. So on hyb. you should go spear and on pure int grind and lvl with spear and pvp with s/s. :) :) :)

Ok, now easy explanation:

A pure int has less hp (health points) then other builds. So you should use spear for lvling, because it does more dmg (damage) and you will lvl faster. When you want to pvp (player vs player) you should use s/*s (sword and shield), because s/s gives you BR /block ratio from shield), which allows you to block attacks.

On a hybrid you should go for spear always, because with a ratio of 1:2 str:int, you will have enough hp to survive and spear does more dmg and helps you more then s/s :)

Now which you will choose is your decision, check out this post for the best guides and there you can read which build you like better :)
