used bow (even though i plan on using blade later)
kept the gap between lvl and masteries at 0 till lvl 5 (i got to lvl 5 within the first hour, or maybe faster...)
after i get to lvl 5, i don't touch the masteries anymore.
found a good lvl 16 bow (not great, but decent enough)
level to lvl 16 while keeping the masteries at 7. so there's your 9 lvl difference.
and then you kill bandit archers up the stairs in the bandit stronghold.
stand, point, and shoot. ur choice whether if you wanna pick up the loot... or have a monkey do it for you... etc
that's the short version of what i did for my sp farmer
I did pretty much the same thing for my INT/Fire/Light guy.
Level up to 5 learning mastery levels each time. Once I hit level 5, I stopped learning masterys till I had a 8 level gap; which meant that I didnt learn mastery 6 till I was level 13. Bow seems to be most efficient at the earlier levels, and I like the fire imbue because I can kill the fastest with that, so when I was level 5, I learn Bow up to 5 and Fire Imbue. You dont even need any weapon 'skills' because you can kill just as fast using regular hits + imbue. By keeping that 8 level gap starting at 5, you will end up with about 7000SP+ by the time you hit level 20 (with level 12 masterys). I am currently level 24 and my sp is almost at 10,000. This is extra SP that doesnt include all the skills/masterys I have learned.
Its best to kill mobs that you can kill in one imbue or less. So find the highest level mob you can kill in one imbue and you're good to go. And again, a bow does help a lot because you'll be farming at Bandits Stronghold for a while, it is so much easier to just stand in a corner or the middle of the area and shoot mobs all around you. No movement necessary for extra fast grinding

It also helps if its a extra strong bow, I had a sos bow and I was getting 15% xp each time till my weapon breaks. Not sure how much SP that is, but its a lot with a 8 level mastery gap!
Though you dont have to follow my way, even if you dont plan on using Spear/Ice/Bow later on (I'm planning on using sword/shield), I would suggest you learn them up to mastery 10 just for the passives. 100hp and 4pdef is a lot for a low level mage, & 18 atk rating will always help. You can always get rid of them later when your masterys are maxed and you need more room (300/300 masterys). Every little bit of stat helps, and the money needed to remove those masterys is nothing when you're like level 90
