Hey, so I made a wizard today. I was trying to figure out what skills to use. I was planning on using fire and earth. Do you think that would be a good combo or should I add in cold or lightning?
BTW my subclass is cleric, mainly just for the rez but do you think I should also pick up some other healing skills? If so, which ones? If you have any suggestions please say something. ALSO, since cleric can wear light armor should I wear it, or should I stick to robes? Would it be that big of a difference to change from robes to light armor? Thanks

My wizard is lvl 25(still very low). Fire is good dmg, earth has good AoE (love the lvl 20 earth nuke, great AoE), ice is very good for freezing... Will defenetly save you a few pots or save your life and in early lvls you can use the first nuke with your first fire nuke as good combo for spell spamming. As for lightning... Since now it has been useless but at lvl 30 you get a teleportation spell... I will lvl lightning just for those skills.

Health Pots you save, mana pots you drink like water in the amazon.
I use the direct fire nuke, the earth frontal AoE and the ice AoE. Along with bard sub skills and passives and nifty things like Tele, Descry, Invis, it can be quite the SP crunch.

I prefer bard as a sub over cleric. When wizards grind they almost always put lifecontrol on. You'll always die in 1-2 or maybe 3 hits then. So what's the point in healing every hit, if bard can help you prevent attacks, give you mana so you can nuke non stop AND can make you run very fast (when a giants spawns near you).

Use Fire/Ice bolt to 20 either in pt or grinding on grey and orange mobs then purchase Earth Shock and Snow Wind, and grind on green mobs. Fireblow is pointless because it immobilizes you and if you get mobbed you cant teleport out which leaves the lightning class. IMO only level lightning spirit to keep teleport...and the fear if you really want it. +INT your gear as you level. Wizards do insane damage and each int point is worth it

Fireblow is not really useless, if you are grinding in a party with a warrior. He taunts, you do the flame thrower. The dmg is very nice.

I have a similer build to you , tho the other way round (cleric main/ wiz second).
I use fire, frost and earth abilites (fire and frost bolts for spamming, frost and earth distance aoe for grinding normal mobs and the fire breath damage for lots of damage)
this chnages slightly at 40, but by then you should have a good idea at what you want.
As a cleric, even if you dont ever intend to be a group healer there are some spells which you must have .. and will love.
Bless Spell, lasts 45 seconds, you can get ti at 20, has a 3 min cool down from second cast (this is short). This spell lasts after you switch weapon and basiclly makes everyone in your party invinsable for 45 seconds (it in fact adds lots to both your physical and magical defenses)
Healing division, this isnt an amazing heal spell apart form its instant, and doesnt require you to be tareting somone to cast it. Thus its the best heal to come out of wiz form and cast and get back into wiz form in the fastest time.
Healing cycle, this is a HoT (heal over time) its powerfull too, simply cast it on yourself switch back to staff and nuke away, it lasts 16 seconds and is great if you want to solo giants or pt mobs, its a fast cast (if your not lagging) so again easy to switch weapons cast and get back to nuking.
At 40 get recovery divison, an amazing spell - although i dont know how well it works when you go back into wiz mode (i only have used it when being full cleric)
Dont get the int/str buffs, when you switch weapons they go away, however the + defense buffs (first one you get at lvl 30) are worth it, they stay on other ppl when you cast them - but not yourself for some reason after you switch weapons.
These spells should give you lots of options for those touogh situations. if you dot want to use that much sp, then just get bless spell and at 30 healing cycle (just remember to cast healing cycle before your about to die, its a great spell but needs time to work).
Hope that helps
