WIll a char with more SP always beat a char with less SP?

A char with less SP maybe focused on one or two particular skills, including one weapokn skill.

A multibuff character has essentially bought every skill in every book and has either maxed out STR or INT.

Will this second character always beat the first in the duel?

if yes.. then shouldnt we all be maxing out SP anyway.....

						 in most cases yes.
But a huge factor is the gear and how the skills are being used....

defensive buffs aren't really an addition till you get them both at level 60
offensive buffs with phy 5% increase and mag 10% increase can be aquired at a medium mastery level (around 32/34 respectively)

other then that it's all about pharming to max out your weap skills, or if you're int based max out all mag att related skills. buy yourself a weap with good stats and +3 minimum, and a good set of defence won't hurt either.

the char with better sp management will always have a slight adventage, but it doesn't mean he'll always win versus a char with less sp.

						 What mKaaru said.

Def buffs are pretty much useless until lvl 60. Offensive buffs are useful earlier. If the characters are exactly equal, a 60 with both offensive and defensive buffs will usually win out. He'll be doing 13% more physical dmg and 15% more magical, have 70 status reduce, 54 higher parry, 84 physical defense and 70 magical defense more than the non-buffed.
