So ehm ... I'm currently playing a Wizard/Bard, level 42, both skills at 42 and 60K SP. Now I'm pretty tired of the fact that I can't even kill monsters of my level, or very difficult. As soon as a champion pops up, I'm pretty much dead.

Now I made a warrior, plvld it to lvl 29 and could easily kill a kokoru, which was better than I could with my wizard. Now I'm wondering if Warrior isn't a better general class than Wizard and what subclass would be best to take with a warrior? (If I want to do pure str warrior).

Does it stay so hard to survive with a champion, or do things get better at a higher level? And is it worth it considering to make a new character, a warrior?

I'm not really into this game, cause I don' play too long, so a little advice would be helpful :) Thanks.

I have never played a wizard/bard, but I'm going to guess that some of the difficulty is due to gear. Wiz hit well with better weapon - tank better with blues on robes.

I had a similar problem with my bard/cleric wearing robes. Bards hit less dmg than wizards do, so champions are tough unless you have recovery division or switch to cleric. I just waited till I got a decent amount of gold and got lucky with a few drops that I could put blues on and plus up to help with mobs. I also tend to stick to magical mobs as I take less dmg.

Warriors kill easily enough, sure, but high level wizards deal a lot of dmg. Warriors are tanks, not dmg dealers.

Although your warrior can go against much higher mobs and not die, its killing ability is much slower than a wizard's. You'll have to run up close to a monster to use 4 skills where a wizard only has to use one ranged attack. There are all flavors of warrior subclasses, check the character guides sticky for details.

A wizard shouldn't die against monsters their level if they play smart. That means, you stay around monsters that you can one hit. If you can one hit monsters your level, then it should be easy to take down a champion.

Try running back a little bit so that you are at the maximum range for your first book ice spell. Hit the champion with that and if there are no other monsters nearby, immediately follow up with the second book lightning spell to damage it and keep it away.

If there are monsters around, teleport(or run since you are a bard) away from the champion to keep it from getting close. Then, finish it off with a first book fire spell. Your goal is to keep away from the champion, not stand there taking hits. If you get hit, you're doing it wrong.

As far as I am aware, they are not. They hold aggro, deal sufficient damage, but they are not the same as a wizard. If they were, Euro parties would consist of 5 warriors, a bard, warlock and a cleric.

Wiz nuke at 87: 27-30k
Warrior hit at 87 (not a crit):8-15k? idk, but I know it's a lot lower. A warrior is designed to absorb damage, not deal it. 2handers will hit harder, but dual-axes and 1h do not hit as high as a wiz does.

Ok, so your advice is just to stick with my Wizard? I might start a Warrior to just train from time to time when I'm sick of my Wizard, but I just hate the fact that I die so much :D

Depends on your gear, but all things being equal, a wiz/cleric would tank better because of Recovery Division, Bless, healing cycle, etc.

I think bard sub is more for sp-starved people, because mostly it's speed and noise. I don't see many bard subs with stuff like Discord Wave or Mana Cycle or dances or tambours, unless they are farmed for it.

you're only half right. its true that wiz/cleric can tank better, but you missed out the fact that RD causes aggro mob to be drawn to you, so in actual fact you die faster when you're training in aggro area.

depending on whether he wants to be more PVE or PVP, Bard = PVE, Cleric = PVP or if you have more chances of party play.

personally i'll choose wiz/bard.

having played a wizard/bard until lvl 95..i can tell you that you will always die if you grind at mobs your lvl or higher...it just takes a crit to kill you.

Unless you have godly equips..go to mobs 1-2 lvls lower...and DONT use life control on champs/giants.

Wizards are fast killers ..so even if you go to mobs 1-2 lvls lower..your exp gainage will be high.

since your lvl 42..i suggest you go either to lvl 39/40mobs in samarkand area...eastern hotan area.

tl;dr: go lower lvl mobs. more kills = more exp

Ye thanks, I just discovered Scorps/Red scrops (lvl 39/40) which work well, but I'll go for Black Robbers because they drop more items and I need a little money at the moment :P

Thanks for the help, I think I'll just stick with my Wizard/Bard then :)

good ^_^ btw at higher lvls..wiz/bards are high in demand lol, especially bards in 99s pts. So just keep soloing for now and you'll get pts easily later on ^_^. Try to get into a big union..with higher lvls..easier that way to find parties or even free plvls..my union has random plvls from ongs - lvl 88 mobs.
