Can anyone tell me the purpose of an absorption rate, ' physical' or 'magical' absorption rate..., wich u find on jewelry. On -oasis help-guide they referred not to any specialty but just mag. and phy defence. But the abs. rate doesnt give any extra defence...wich gives me the feeling it isnt important at all. That's why my jewelry collection is still 2 degrees lower because of the nice int adds i have on it, for raising my balance. On weapon u have also something like phy/mag reinforce?....
never understood what that meant..., can anyone explain??

Pure int Nuker

I don't know the answer to the jewelry question.

As to the reinforce question...it's all about alchemy. When resetting a physical or magical attack power on a weapon a higher reinforce is supposed to give a higher chance of having a large new value put on the weapon. If that makes sense. That's what I read anyway...

BUMP: i wanna know the answer to this to.

And how important is reinforce/absorbtion? Does phy reinforce on armour imrpove your dmg? Does it matter that much? Do you go crazy with alchemy trying to raise it? A bunch of questions.

Absorption reduces a %age of your damage taken as compared to armor values which take a set amount away. There's a lot of variation, though, or lvl 10s would only do 1 dmg to high levels (and they range from 1 to like 50)

So think of damage as (other persons/mobs damage roll) - absorption %age - physical value on gear +/- AR/parry modifier = damage taken.

Reinforce/absorption are extremely valuable. Reinforce affects damage values (it's part of the calculation to determine the damage you see on your character screen) and at higher levels absorption can be as, or more valuable than gear. EG, if your gear reduces a certain physical attack by 1000 and your jewelry reduces by 50%, a crit capable of doing 10k (say, strong bow) would do 4000-4500 depending on which gets taken off first (IDK). If you had gear that reduced it by 2000, and only a 25% reduction, you take 5500-6000.

Admittedly, my numbers are being made up, since if this were the case, someone with 72-74 level (with +/sos) gear would have almost 75% reduction, meaning that by 8th degree, it'd be possible to reduce all dmg. But still, you can see the difference that a %age reduce can do.
