ICE SWORD PRIEST

I. Introduction

Here is my idea for a support character AKA. healer, priest and whatever you want to call it. This was written by myself and not ripped or taken from any other person or site. Now, the idea of this build is to SUPPORT other players, not tank anything or do damage. Now, I understand that guild quests have not come out and there is no need for a mass of people, but this is just a character build, you can use it however you like. It would be very difficult to level this sort of build, but if you managed to get it to a high level you would be very popular at guild wars and unique monster hunts.

II. Build
This build is going to be a hybrid, a 2:1 hybrid to be exact. For every level 2 stat points goes into INT while 1 goes into STR. That will leave you with +2 STR and +3INT per level. Stat points can be found by pressing ā€œcā€ in-game, which is the default key for character skills. The reason for this type of build is to heal and not necessarily tank, therefore you should have a lot of mana for being able to heal and res a lot while still not being a put INT with really low HP.

III. Skills
The two main skill trees that will be used with this build are going to be Cold and Force. The Cold tree is what will do the damage, if and when you need to. The force tree is what the major perk of this build is going to be though, healing and resurrecting people. Here are the skills that you will be wanting to get from the Cold tree.
Quote:
Cold Force Series ~ Max it out
Frost Guard Series ~ Max it out
Cold Armour ~ Max it out

The cold force series is the imbue that will give you that extra kick when attacking mobs and/or people. The frost guard series will give you a lot of extra defense that way you will not get owned by any sort of physical attack. Seeing as most mobs are physical based this should help a lot. The cold armor also follows along the frost guard line in that it will help reduce the damage you take. The following are the skills needed for the force series.
Quote:
Self-Heal Series ~ Optional
Heal Series ~ Max it out
Rebirth Series ~ Max it out
Natural Therapy Series ~ Max it out
Force Increasing Series ~ Max it out

The self-heal series is optional, you can save some money from buying HP pots, but you will just have to buy more MP pots in return. The heal series and rebirth series are the main skills of this build. With these two skills you will be able to heal people and resurrect them when they die. The force increasing series is just there to give you more MP which will allow you to cast longer without having to use pots.

IV. Weapon and Armor

The weapon that will be used here will be sword. Since the character will be using a sword you will also be able to have a shield. Now, the BR from the shield will be used to keep the damage at bay. The armor can really be thrown around here. The build that I have in mind will use Garment, because of the fact that a lot of casting will be going on (Healing and Resurrections) and thus you will really want that casting reduction. Garment will also give you that run increase speed, which will allow you too zip around healing, resurrecting, and hopefully not getting agroed by the mobs. If you really want to you can go armor so you can take more hits, but you should leave the fire bladers and galaviers to do that.

V. Use
This type of build is not made to go out and solo Saytan or any other large mob for that matter. This build was designed to fight as a group and provide support to tanks in the way of heals and resurrections.

Please note that this is just an idea, so post your comments concerning this build only and how to make it better or weaknesses it may have.

I like the idea, but won't leveling this character be painful? Not to mention all the skill points needed?

Also will you be able to out heal say 2 or 3 people (or mobs)hitting one character? how would you know which character to be healing?

In other games the healer concept has been great and very valuable, in SRO the only skills I've really seen a use for are harmony (questionable) and res. The other stuff is too slow and mostly for yourself.

Perhaps I'm jaded

this is an exact copy of other threads about a "cold cleric" variations include, sword/shield or bow, also maxing out the ice wall series and freezing techniques, the ice wall would be effective with bow user, providing extra hp/defense while attacking.

Where are the weapon skill? Also if you can't level this build, it won't be very useful in all in pvp/guild wars as he will just get shot and die right away since he will be lower than everyone :P

I realize that there is another post about this, but I did not copy nor rip any of his info. I am sorry if the builds are similar.

the biggest problem with healers is that the party display hp of other ppl in the pt isnt correct

my healers in my guild often heal me wile im at like 80% hp , and thay claim that thay see my hp near death
and when you do need a heal thay say , wha , your not even close to death yet , and plop i hit the flooor ><

interesting how you left out the weapon skills.

as of right now, i'm making something similar to this, except pure int.
i must look for a high br shield.. hmm.. =]

actually, i was wondering which sword skills i should actually get.
i'm not too familiar with the sword skills

You know, str characters can use this build, just like RaiKiRii said...

A pure int healer is extremly vulnerable due to low phy def and hp, and might have a hard time supporting other characters with the Vital Spot attacks.

A pure str, or hybrid str on the other hand, can pop in, tank a few hits, use the skills, and pop back out. Like grain through a goose. :)

And Antix: I've spoken with one other hybrid player, and he mentioned that his build was based on the dmg balances, instead of a set stat distr. And from that, I'm slowly believing that it was the original intent of the creators of SRO, to build characters in that manner. It adds for greater variety of characters, and a more diverse gameplay in terms of PvP or wars. So... you might want to decide what phy. balance you'd want, over what mag. balance you'd want.

About my above comment: please don't flame, I don't wanna hear about "Pure types are better and this is why you *****". That was my own personal opinion.

yeah i've had the same thing, i think its because the bars of health of party members are a little delayed, maybe lag, maybe not. but my friends yell at me for not helping when i see their health at full and then they die
