ice/bow is a popular combination because it increases the chances of killing mobs before they even get to you (slowing/freezing them means more shots before they get within attacking range). i'm fire/spear, so i don't have much more than that to say.

It's because ice has a 5% possibility of freezing them solid and a 25% possibility of making them run all slow, allowing you to kill them before they reach you.
If you get jumped by 4 level 20+ monsters though you'll find out that ice/bow isn't really that great, you have to be very tactful with bows, trying to take just 1 monster at a time, bows and ice are the weakest weapon and the weakest magic so if 4 monsters get in close your gonna be in big trouble.

It's really up to you, I've only really used ice with my bow before making a new glaive/fire character, I decided I preferred fire and I wanted a more powerful weapon too.
I would go with fire and get the top bow skill high and the double shot one, it's not always what you have but how you use it, the correct way to fight is to double click the monster, click your weapon skill, then hold down your right mouse button on your magic, just as your about to fire release the button so your magic starts the split second before the arrow fires, this gives you the strongest opening attack possible and also the full 5 seconds of magic for the double/triple attack. With nothing wasted and your skills high you'll kill or 80% kill the monsters before your magic runs out.
I've never really seen any posts telling you how to perfectly use the weapons/skills, only what you should have, but there's a lot of good timing involved so you can use the magic just before the attack starts so nothing is wasted. The incorrect way is charging up the magic and then just laying into them. It has to be timed perfectly with your main weapon skill, there's always a couple of seconds charging time for the big skill attack and that's when you imbue the magic.
The timing becomes second nature soon enough and you can judge where your gonna stand to attack before you even get there, also you want to buy bows with critical of 6 or more, preferably 8 or more. I had a level 8 bow with a 10 critical and I was still using it at level 16 it was that good lol

The problem with freezing/slowing them down before you kill them is that by the time you get your bow fired up the monster has thawed out. The freezing and slowing down skills are more suited to STR spear/glaive users who can do high damage without needing the magic. I wouldn't really recommend them for bow users.

No worries, I'm on the xian server usually during the day 0 GMT UK time, I don't play much at night or early hours in the morning anymore but if you find me in the game King_Tsarkon I'll show you how to get good use out of your bow/skills etc

Actually, most archers get uber grasswalk so they go Antidevil and right before it fires turn on imbue fire quadruple shot then triple shot and if they freeze, fire a beserker arrow, but if you are hiding, open with spirit bow and end with antidevil then RUN like really really RUN then after a while you will see some distance between the person and you rinse and repeat
You might want to get cold wave arrest for this too since some ppl have to it prevent you from running away
Another way to play pvp archer is go crystal wall and just sit there and let the wall take the damage, when the wall dies you use phantom walk and run!
