Well I've been grinding with Garments since level 1.. and what I'm wondering is would it be better to grind with Protectors so I still get that MP bonus but am able to take more damage?

Full int build by the way.. not sure if that matters.

Personally I don't like protectors because it doesn't do anything great. Not great physical def, magical def, running bonus or magical consumption bonus.

What it comes down to is your play style. Later on you will need to use armor as a pure int, that's sure. But ealy on, like 1x (like your sig says) it depends on play style. Personally, as a pure int I didn't have problems with using garments, however some people do.

Hm.. I find it easier with protectors just for that little bit extra phy. AR.

Especially against those damn bandit archers.. I'd kill one and depending on whether or not they crit me I'd have pretty low health so I'd goto find a nice resting spot and quickly get picked off by a newly spawned archer in about the same spot. :x

I'll probably go with garments after the bulk of sp farming is done.. but for now it doesn't make much of a difference.. barely noticable in fact. Thanks for your opinion though dom.

Yer, mid 1x the difference between def isn't that great. But all the numbers are exponential in SRF, the higher you get the bigger the difference.

later on, if you can one shot everything, or kill everything before they touch you (with fire nuke) then you'll be ok with garmet.. its just less safe.

whY-2G, your writing style has changed.

In a positive way!

You're pretty much owned in any armor with that situation.

Yeah, pure int wernt really build for speed in an agro environment. If you get mobbed by 2 or 3 then you may just be dead depending on the level of the mobs you are fighting. It may not be so bad cus pure int train on things they can 1-hit, but still.

In my personal experience I had a little bit of trouble using garment, but all-in-all it was fine, just try not to get mobbed. What you should do (but I didnt) is turn into armor at the 6th or 7th degree sets. If you are having a lot of trouble you can do 5th degree, but it didnt make much of a differance to me. You could stay with garment forever if you wanted, but if you plan on playing in the caves you NEED armor or else you will get STALLOWNED!

No. Have you ever played a nuker? If they can 2 hit kill you with garments, they can still 2 hit kill you with armor.

im starting a nuker because i want to test how it does..... so this is an opinion, and havent tried it yet

but once the difference between garment and armor is huge (difference growing potentially as everything in this game) wouldnt armor really help ?

Sure it can block out a significant amount of damage, but at lower levels (30-40), if they can 2 hit kill you, they will still 2 hit kill you.

EG: You have 1,800 life.
2 hits with Armor: 1000 + 1000 = you're dead
2 hits with Garment: 1450 + 1450 = you're dead

Those numbers are no where near real, just using it as an example so you understand what I mean.

In a nuker v nuker fight, its whoever gets the second hit first wins. Sometimes, its first hit wins.

but mix & matchin doesnt give you the extra bonus...so either go full protector or armor...
