he asked whether he should play sc1 as well. that one I was doubting whether it could work. it might so old compared to his parts that it won't be compatible anymore =/

My jaw kinda dropped when he posted his parts xD
he'll be able to play SC2 without the slightest bit of trouble... probably.

well i'm able to run starcraft just fine with my computer.

(quad core vista all that stuff) just got to disable visual themes or what ever to make it run. because i have noticed that aero theme (or what ever you call it) causes issues in some games.

Sc is notorious for not working well with newer parts, especially quad cores.

I have a q6600 and it won't run without freezing =( even with loaders to fix the 'maxing out core0' problem.

Haha thanks guys, I honestly didn't know how good of the hardware on this computer was until now. It probably doesn't help that I stopped following computers 3~4 years ago. Looks like I will be playing some games on this laptop after all. I actually just got a response from another person with the same macbook pro, and he said he has been playing the beta for SC2 with the high settings on. All I have to do now is get a good mouse and I am set. I already got a good suggestion, so I should be good there.

So far the two games I am interested in are C&C and SC. I think I am going to focus more on SC for now since it looks like a game I would enjoy the most between the two. So... think I can run some MW on dis bad boy? :P hahah

I love my magic mouse but I can't game with it. It's great for designing though. It's also really cheap when comparing to high-end PC mice.

You should consider getting one and a cheap wired mouse for playing RTS.

Yea, I have a mighty mouse from my previous macbook.

But what you said is spot on. I played BF2 like it was my job. I played with the cheap wired mouse that came with the computer. I hate playing with a heavy mouse... it doesn't feel right. I might go to best buy sometime this week and pick up one. Do you guys think it is worth getting SC1 though? I mean let's be honest... the new came comes out in roughly 2 months.. Is it really that epic and awesome? I think I might get it so I can get used to the controls so I can just jump right in.

yeah, it'll help, watch and read stuff about microing and try it out in game, very similar, so it'll help you when you start playing sc2, plus, its only like 10 bucks or so now right...

try changing the compatibility to
run as windows 95
run in 256 colors
run in 640x480 screen resolution
disable visual themes

starcraft runs just fine for me. then again i have the 32 bit windows so that could be why.

i have the amd 620 and 9800gtx+ it seems to be running as fast as possible. i even run it through steam (but will permanently change its colors to 256 until you restart it) and no issues so far.

Don't patronize me -_-

Been there done that, the game is built on a very, very old engine that has it's share of unfix-able problems.

I have no problems running SC on my PC and it has a newer quad core than yours and on 64bit Windows 7

I'd post a google search of 'starcraft quad core problems' but lots of it is now SC2.

I'm not retarded =\ It has many issues. Not everyone has them, but I've seen enough threads about it while trying to fix my own issues. Check your core0 usage while playing it..should be 100% =| There are loaders to fix it, but they don't seem to work, nor core affinity etc etc.
