For me it isn't really about the quality or enjoyability of games, but rather their associated memories.

UN Squadron

My dad used to leave for work just before I got home from school and get home just after I would go to bed. Even though I was living with my dad, I usually only got to see him on weekends. Sometimes he would wake me up in the middle of the night, make some spam+rice+eggs and rock the UN Squadron with me until morning. He would then make my mom call the school and tell them I was sick, only so we could spend time together.

Sim City

Played this on SNES with my cousin. Because it was a 1 player game we would "build together". It basically resulted in me nagging and her yelling at me for building my cities "ugly".

Mortal Kombat

All the kids on the block used to congregate for this. I was always the youngest and I raged a lot. Everyone was asshole and would never teach the moves. Taught me a lot about talking smack.

Starcraft

Used to play in home room before class. About 8 of us would always manage to squeeze in a game. I remember only having a handful of disks. Every single morning we would have to install it, launch the game, then pass the disk to the next person. Because we only had the 3 CD keys, each one of us had to put in the same CD key and randomly change the last 4 digits until it was accepted.

Tropico

I was young and had no job. I put hundreds of hours into the demo but could never afford the game. I tried downloading it via P2P but every time I did it was a renamed copy of either Sim Hospital or Airport Tycoon.

Gran Turismo (the first one, when it came out, was mind ****)

One thing I loved that they never really brought back was the racing paint/modification. I played this game every day each time I would go to Quebec. My uncle worked in a car shop and he taught me basically everything I know about tuning a car. Great times.

Tomb Raider

I played with my aunt and uncle. Hours were spent with them two arguing about where to go next.

PGA Gold 98

I still have it and play it regularly. Every time I see my family from Quebec we play a skins game: me, my grand father, my aunt, and one of my uncles. A lot of shit talking and a lot of fun. We recently moved to Tiger Woods on the Wii - still a lot of shit talking.

Jet Force Gemini

When this game came out everyone on my block got it. We spent hours learning the game and would go to eachother's houses to give presentations on what we learned.

Banjo Kazooie

Farking hated this game. Pretended I liked it because there was a girl in my class who did. We talked a lot about it and it sealed the deal when I cut out the cheats for it from my Tips & Tricks magazine.

GTA Vice City

This game came out when I was in my pothead years. We used to get stoned and just drive around singing "Video killed the radio star".
