This is it! We are very excited to announce the first details on Battlefield 3 and to kickstart the preorders for the Limited Edition!
Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound? All this built with our powerful new game engine Frostbite 2, which you'll hear and see a lot of in the months leading up to launch. For the full reveal on Battlefield 3, stay tuned for links to our cover stories hitting the gaming press throughout February, starting with Game Informer right now.
Battlefield 3 will release this Fall. You can preorder the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition at http://www.battlefield.com now. The exact contents of the Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Guess not much to add to this. I'm really excited about this one and hope they don't screw it up.
Ok i'm starting to have faith in EA and Dice again.
They stated that although BF3 won't be a PC exclusive titel , the PC version will recieve a special threatment, which probably means that the PC version will be the main version and the consoles will be getting the ported versions. I guess they decided to leave COD alone and focus on their true fanbase from the older BF games. A good decision in my opinion, although i never was able to fully enjoy BF2 because i was lacking the hardware to do so, it was the first game i really hyped and would have killed for back then.
Besides of that , i really hope that the new frostbite engine will allow real time destrucion rendering rather than the predetermined destruction of BF:BC2.
TL;dr: -Frostbite 2 will be able to handle the destruction of every building you can imagine (they are talking about 7 floor buildings collapsing during an earthquake in SP) -Notching up real time lightning -More realistic animations with a new system -Way more cleaner and more realistic sounds than BFBC2 -Character personalization (but no "pink rabbit hat"-system) -more unlocks than BFBC2 and it will take longer to get them -Hardcore mode (maybe more hardcoreish than BFBC2) -Dice's approach on theater mode -No 64-player combat for console because nobody was complaining (lol) -Stronger use of PC capabilities -> bigger gap between Consoles and PC graphics (guess you'll have to upgrade your rig if you still run dual-core/tri-core ) -No modding tools ( =( )

I'm bored of BFBC2... I need this!!!1111oneone!! ^ I think a high end dual/tri core with a good clock should be able to handle this game decent. This game is going to look and sound amazing. I showed a console fanboy friend my BFBC2 maxed out on PC with dx 11 and put it on my HD 47" TV and 23" LED monitor and his reaction was "holy shit!...HOW does it look so good?!"... Now he wants me to help him build a gaming computer.
I would like to have smaller maps since I don't see playing with 64 players being lag free. In BFBC2 I often spend my time just looking for people unless I sit on a point and just wait. The only thing I want to see is this game shit all over Black Ops.. Oh wait.. It's not even out and it already has.

Agreed, in terms of the masses CoD will be ruling FPS for the next decade. In terms of graphics, gameplay, realism, mapping, and pretty much everything else the game is left in the dust, as usual. Honestly I think BO's graphics are on par with HL2.. from half a decage ago. lol I'm typing this as I'm playing this game out of sheer boredom.

I think it looks pretty good lol, oh well... And well, I do prefer CoD too because it's much faster than BBC2. Never played Battlefield honestly, no game pc xD
I look forward to bf3 though, wonder how it'll be.

Indeed BF style is a slower pace, but it takes quit a bit more skill to kill somebody. In BO I've noticed I can pick any SMG + Steady Aim and just spray and get tons of kills.. Hell my spraying has earned me a 2.59-3.19 KDR in that game.
I play BO when I feel like running around and knifing the crap out of people and I play BFBC2 at night when I'm more relaxed. They are practically opposites, if it wasn't for BC's graphics or intense sound I probably wouldn't have tried it.
All I know is BF3 is going to look great and sound great, I'm anxious to see the maps and gameplay. I'm waiting on BF3 and Crysis 2 this year [on PC]

Don't really see the difference with BO graphics wise lol...But you're right, you can't really compare them because they are so different playstyle wise.
FUCK YEAH that looks soo awesome. check how realistic it is :O Rly cant wait!
Looks like BC2 to me...Then again I only watched it here and not on youtube and fullscreen lol
It beats BC2 graphics easily. It's still is all grey/brown and desaturated like all shooters have to be by default for some odd reason ,but it is a far better grey/brown and desaturated than the others.
My couisin uploaded this clip dunno if its been posted before but the gameplay looks good and realistic. Never played a BF so might try this one out
If you wanna get it, get it for pc. PC's got larges maps and 64 players. The lead platform on this one is pc. You must have a good rig tho to be able to play it maxed out ;p I, myself enjoyed Battlefield 2 more than BC2 so i'm really looking forward to bf3!
