Nice, knew it was a bad idea making it 'online'. Honestly, it should keep it like D1 and D2: Offline. Okay, you might say then you wouldn't be able to sell your stuff at the auction blabla. Then make it able to make 2 characters offline and online D: With all this maintenance, servers down and whatnots game quality is going down? Meh, I don't know... I don't own the game yet so...

Hear whatever you want but chances are low that you'll regret the 60$ spent on this game. I mean it's freaking Diablo. Triple A

That's probably perfect. Like I said, Blizzard is really good about restoring compromised accounts as long as they have enough information.
I'd also suggest that anyone get a mobile authenticator at the very least. It's free as long as you have a smart phone and it's just an app you use to generate a key to log in. It's simple, but adds that extra level of protection.
I bought one for $6.75 or whatever then got an extra one from Blizzcon and I haven't looked back since. The process of "hacking" someone through an authenticator is complicated. If someone wants to get me like that I commend them because that's a lot of work.

So I'm set on either DH or Wizard. I've been watching videos around and DH seems to be less popular for some reason. Maybe they don't do as good in higher levels like Hell and Inferno? I have a feeling that their gameplay will be about using movement skills to dodge and then bombard everything with your DPS spells.
Yeah I was honestly going to get an authenticator on my ipod after hearing about all these hacking stories, but I was just too damn late
It's such an odd thing though because I spent probably an hour reading the "hacked" threads on the D3 forums and every thread contained a bunch of posts saying that the op downloaded a keylogger/virus/spyware, visited a phising site, viewed a malicious ad, or straight up tried to download hacks. How could this be true for EVERYBODY that got compromised? Why did it only take my Diablo 3 items and gold instead of my credit card and other personal information? I was trying to backtrack to see if I actually downloaded something malicious or not after I played D3, but it couldn't have. It just doesn't make sense. I had ad-block on Chrome, I never see ads, and the only D3 related websites i've been to is D3 wikia, and the official D3 site; so the malicious ad theory is ruled out. I actually haven't downloaded anything other than stream music and videos since I played D3, and even if I did download anything, it would have been just music. So how? It doesn't make sense to me how this could have happened, unless i've had a keylogger specifically made for D3 on my computer BEFORE D3 EVEN CAME OUT. Or maybe I'm just being to naive here. However, I did notice something suspicious during my last hour of play before I got all my shit stolen. I got a public game invite from somebody I've never played with and they weren't on my friends list. I didn't accept or deny the game invite because I was just about to log off anyways, but yeah that was the only thing out of the ordinary I noticed.

Roll a DH - they are so popular right now. My friends list is crowded with them farming in A4.
Ignoring witch doctor, there's 2 types of classes in this game. The ranged DPS and melee tank. The warrior has a lot more potential than the monk and is a lot better but it takes 10x more gold to gear. The Wizard is better than the DH, but takes 10x more gold to gear.
WIth a DH you can start doing inferno almost right away and the gear is a lot cheaper. Just get IAS blues with +dex and you're good to go. My friends list is full of DH using trashy gear that just have a ton of dex (blue 200 dex with less than 40 int helm anyone?). and easily getting 70k DPS.
For actual content you get 1 hitted, but its good to have a DH just to farm gear for your other characters. Once you get to 25 you can power level yourself to 60 in 6 hours. I'm just too lazy to get mine to 25.
What sort of latency is everyone getting? I'm Australian and I get a constant 200-250, which isn't great but it's still pretty responsive. Is everyone else getting better latency figures? Does it make such a large difference in the higher difficulties? I'm taking my time and playing with some RL friends, level 38 atm, and it hasn't bothered me too much to date.
Update on my compromised character: No later than 24 hours after I sent my ticket about the compromise, Blizzard has rolled me back to pretty much where I left off before the compromise. Buuut so was the past couple of hours I spent on my WD and all the gold I invested into auctions, but close enough.

My ping is very sporadic. Earlier today I had 120-160ms, some times I have 250-350 and even sometimes (more rare now) anywhere from 400-800. The game is still very responsive though, so I have no idea what to say. Also when the game first came out I was at a 600-800 constantly with no responsiveness issues that I noticed.

What the fuck. I logged in and I find my main naked and all my shit is gone. Everything in my stash is gone, my gold is gone. Wtf.
AtheneWins got hacked due to his own stupidity, but still, he sent a support ticket and got everything back(items, gold, etc.) so you should be ok.
accidently posting your password in the email field doesn't mean he got "hacked". do you know what getting hacked means?
His account got locked almost immediately so nothing was harmed and then he seen all the hate: (HAHA ATHENE LOST ALL HIS STUFF) when he logged in. He turned it into a troll because his friend was holding all his gear, he came back on later in his full gear with diablo inferno dead laying beside him.

This is what playing a DH looks like:
Code: Select all
Just curious, why wizards cost higher than DH? Arent they only stacking int instead of dex?
You think Monks and DH have better survability overall than Wiz and Barb, using the same gear?
And what means IAS? Increase attack speed?
I really have an hard time gearing for A1 Inferno as Barb. I can do trash mobs fine but most champs are a pain still! Trying to get more resist and Vitality on my gear, but i'm ending up having like no STR

my first guy was a WD to 60, he has 22k damage right now, made a DH to farm just recently got him to 60.
I've been finding some decent gear have a little under 1.5 mil atm still looking to get some good gear, currently farming act 4 inferno. Might get inferno staff and go to inferno pony level.

Here's your guide to gearing for A1
Side note, when I did A1 I had 400 str. But this guide will get you decent str.
Buy blue items with all res (look for 40+ per item). Because blue items usually have 2 mods (you can get dual mods but the amount of str/vit will be reduced and it will be more expensive), you need to alternate between them.
For example, get boots with all res and + str, then make up for it with bracers that have only all res and vit. Do this for every piece except the helm.
For the helm get a socket (and use amethyst), with either str or vit. The only expensive item that you need is a life on hit weapon. Aim for 600+ dps and 300+ life steal (with a socket) - if you can afford better, do it. I bought my 700 dps 600 life on hit with a socket weapon (socketed 180 more life on hit) when I hit A1 and i'm still using it.
For rings and ammy, it depends what you need. I have 5 sets of all res + life on hit, all res + vit, all res + str, attack speed + str (each ring gives me 2k DPS), and my usual set which is a mix of them. I change these based on what i'm doing.
Make sure you use a shield. Aim for all res and block. Vit and str don't make up for an extra couple percent block. Get as high as you can (aim for 25-26 unless you have a lot of money to burn).
Here's some items that I still have that I used to use, saving for my friend:
Make sure you use a good build. 3 must have skills: revenge with 30% proc rune, war cry with impunity rune, 1 get away skill (either leap with the armor % rune or furious charge with 9% life rune).
First to pieces to get afterwards are (1) String of Ears (the 10%-20% damage reduction is A LOT more than it sounds - the effective HP that it eats is ridiculous), and (2) IAS gloves (mine aren't optical for a barb but the IAS gives me 1.4k DPS and helps my life on hit).
Last screenshot is about itemization. This is my barb in his bland flavor - leaves more DPS or more all res to be desired. By swapping my rings and a couple key pieces I can jump to nearly 1,000 all res or nearly 14k DPS. It depends where I am and what i'm trying to kill. Things to note are my block % and melee damage reduction (my armor damage reduction + melee damage reduction = 90.84%).
Wtf is up with this game. Ever since this weekend or somewhere around there, i've been getting like 400ms, or shit that makes my latency bar go orange/red. I've almost never had a problem with it up until now... :\
