i have little hope in the multiplayer, since it was never designed for it. I mean look at Bioshock 2 (MULTIPLAYER SUX AZZ!)

Should I spend money on AC1and2 before I get the 3rd, since all my friends don't have their AC's anymore. Is the storyline that important like in GoW?

Well you should just try AC2 since this is somewhat of a sequel to that one especifically, or atleast that's what it seems like.
I didn't play the first and I picked up the story just fine from the second one.

So is the Multiplayer basically like 5v5(random number) in some random map(Renaissance setting) and you get to hide in sewers and all and the goal is to assassinate everyone?
