For those of you wondering, when you import your old character from ME1, you don't actually get say, a level 40 shepard. Nor do you get items or skills from your old game. You simply get a fairly large amount of credits and minerals when you start based on your old character's level. You also get your Paragon/renegade, which helps massively in the beginning when all of the situations need very little for intimidate/charm.
For example, I imported a level 37 renegade shepard and got 20k credits, 2.5k of every mineral, and about 140 renegade points.

I was level 50 on my file and it gave me like 150K credits and started me at level 3.
I also did the surveying sidequests in the last game and got a good start with resources.

Oh yea, forgot to mention I started at level 2. Regardless, I only played ME1 one time, so I was lower level than I had wanted. Oh well.
Mass Effect 2 is still not coming out that soon here...
So today I was looking at Mass Effect 1, considering to buy it since it was pretty cheap... I regret not buying it now that I'm home taking my break from mw2
So I got Mass Effect's version of Fallout's Fatman. It's very cool to use. Haven't found anything I can't one shot yet.

what did everyone think of the beginning of the game? talk about epic, I mean WOW... walking through the Normandy towards the bridge and seeing that huge whole...damn.
Also i have a problem.
Am playing the Steam dulex digital download version of the game, and just wondering how do i actually go about getting this new armour am meant to have the these other extra? 0_o
In the beginning I was thinking the graphics are nice and very disappointed and how dumbed down the RPG elements were.

Gotta wait till you get access to an armor changing terminal, usually in your captain's cabin.
From there just change the armor type.
I also just finished the game. Holy shit, man. Awesome ending.
Spoiler!
Tali is also my Shepard's girl now, she's so goddamn cute when you talk to her, getting all flustered and embarrassed like that. Made me d'awww quite a bit.

Its not their, only thing their is my Blood Dragon suit, i am meant to have one more god damn it ¬_¬
Took me about 42 hours but I completed the game with 100% completion I think. Still disappointed and how dumbed down the RPG elements are. There is no exploration and few consequences for your actions outside of that particular mission or main story.
Spoiler!
No, getting shitty emails does not count. I want people coming back for revenge or something or unlocking new missions or items because of what I did outside of the main story.
Your characters(teammates) have no...character. You can talk to your teammates any kind of way you want and they will go along with it as long as your Paragon or Renegade level is high enough. It makes them seem unrealistic that they aren't willing to stand for anything and are easily persuaded by you despite their morales. Which brings up another point... Do not play the game being neutral. I was making decisions based on how I would act in that predicament which unintentionally led to my Paragon and Renegade scores being near equal. This screws you over because there are few big situations that require you to have a lot of Paragon/Renegade in order for things to go smoothly... Because I was sort of neutral both chat options were locked most of the time because they weren't high enough which made situations not go in my favor no matter which available "normal" options I chose. It also affected my ending which I really hated... Also there are no rare weapons unlike other RPGs, just lame upgrades and it's not like the upgrades are hard to find either. I was disappointed by how little your teammates had to say during missions and outside of missions. In some of Bioware's other RPGs, your teammates get in arguments with each other during missions and always had a lot to say about your most recent action in the story. After nearly everything you did, you could talk to your teammate and they would make a comment about how you handled x situation and whether or not they agreed, revealing more information about themselves, etc. Barely any of that happened in Mass Effect 2, but I guess I'm just nitpicking.
But again, the main flaw I find is that your characters are so life-like until it comes time to make decisions that go against their morales. You can easily break your teammates will and they will end up agreeing with you. You pull this crap in other RPGs and your teammates will lose respect for you, leave your group, betray you, etc. One of the best things I enjoyed in KOTOR or any RPG was when I was heading towards the Darkside I tried to convince my teammates to join me. I managed to persuade some as the game progressed but there were some too far into the light that I could not persuade. They had character. So, in the final moments when I decided I wanted to rule the galaxy my teammates tried to stop me... I really didn't see that coming. Even the people that nearly started the game with me tried to kill me. lol I was forced to kill most of them. I was a bit disappointed and how easily they died despite all the levels I had gotten them and the nice gear they were wearing but I guess that can be because of how much of a badass my character had become. lol Anyway, my point is the characters in Mass Effect 2 sort of fall flat in that department.
The missions are excellent and I would encourage everyone to go exploring(even though there isn't really anything to explore). You will come across some unique encounters... I probed every planet and did everything there is(452 saves and over 600k of most resources) and it was all very enjoyable.
Spoiler!
Being sort of neutral caused me to lose Jack's loyalty and I was unable to get it back resulting in her dying in the final mission. I chose Tali as my woman because I really liked her personality. lol I was amazed when I saw tears running down the eyes of NPCs. Never seen that before outside of a cinematic.
With that said, Mass Effect 2 is the best Action RPG I've ever played even though it plays more like an action game with the RPG elements as an afterthought instead of a true hybrid of the genre. Characters are epic, missions are epic, graphics are epic, story is epic, ending will be epic win for you...or epic fail. I went through the game as an engineer and I kept another engineer in the group with me at all the times. My party setup in all RPGs always consist of the 2 people I liked the most not who would be most useful in a given situation so I sort of never played with anyone else. I will start again as a Vanguard and go full Renegade next time and maybe experiment with my 3rd squad slot since my 2nd is reserved for the engineer.

Played me2 before me1 and really enjoyed it so I bought and played me1 and imported completed save game into me2 and finished it again on renegade . Love both of the games can't wait for the 3rd one now.. mass effect story line is pretty damn good, hope they can make a good movie of it too.
The scene at the very end of the last cutscene, holy shit. Can't fuxing wait for 3, this has been one of the best single player games I've played in a while.
Spoiler!
I freaking knew the ship upgrades were going to work like that, good thing I got some. The only one I missed ended up killing Jack, good thing I hated her. I went in with Garrus and Grunt, Tali to go through the pipes, and Jason leading the second team. Tali died, and at the second point I kept my squad, having Jason lead the second fire team again, and Samara to generate a biotic field to take us through. In the end, Mordin didn't survive as part of the back squad to hold the door. Him I liked. I used the Radiation wave to keep the ship. Illusive man is gonna betray us, I just know it.
After watching some other endings where just about everyone died, I feel like I got one of the weaker emotional endings, oh well. I intend to keep Garrus alive through all 3 of these damn games, lol.
3 should be fun with that massive fuxin army on the horizon.
and a question:
Spoiler!
Does everyone see the Illusive man's eyes as glowing bright blue/white? Idk if it has to do with how my story went, but he's like that for me. Maybe it's similar in some way to Shepard's changing eyes based on your choices.

One question, PC or Xbox? (Should I get it for Xbox or PC)
I would say PC too. Even though I haven't snagged a copy of ME2 yet, I know from ME1 that having to go to the power wheel everytime I wanted to use something was a bitch. Especially if you plan to play any class with biotic or tech powers because trust me you are going to want to keybind them.

Nah I think his eyes are always like that. And shame on you for losing Tali. I had Legion do the vent and he did well. Only lost Grunt in my ending, but we'll see how round 2 goes.

Shit happens =P.
Spoiler!
I lost her because she wasn't loyal, I screwed up by not having the intimidate needed to yell at the council the second time and I just gave them the evidence.
Yea first time I finished it jack, legion died and I was sad I wanted to bang jack xD.. but then I played again and managed to have a very high renegade meter and made all the squad loyal and no one died . And yea at first I didn't think those ship upgrades were important and didn't want to waste my resources but glad I got em they are so important lol.
just finished thought it was an amazing game, ending was awesome.
Spoiler!
i lost jack, legion, samara, and Thane i didn't care jack died and i didnt care much for samara, tho i was sad when thane and legion died , ship seems so empty without them and half of the crew. oh btw i fucked miranda, shit was hot.
but then at the end i lost: Jacbo in the vents (dumb shit got shot in the head trying to close a door ) Zaeed who was leading the defence team (i hated him) Mordin Solus then somehow died while i was off fighting the human reaper
