The game IS worth it.
Lets see why
1) Most classes are MP inefficient. There's nothing fun about using auto attack half the time (even with MP pots). This only lasts until about level 15, which is easy to pass...mp consumption/mp regen skills get way more useful.
2) The game had a lot of bugs in open beta. I guess quite a few off them, aren't fixed. Name some? A lot of bugs actually were fixed.
3) The game is a grindfest. Sure you have quests, but they include grinding as well. And if your not grinding for your quest, you'll be running to the other side of them map and back. Practically any MMO is, if your not prepared to grind a bit, don't play MMOs, however....the amount of grinding needed in this game is really not bad at all.
4) Class balance isn't that good. At low levels, yes, however at 25 + melle/healer classes start to get fear/sprint/stun/sleep ETC. Makign it more skill based
5) Obnoxious pick up system. Press key to pick up items, press another key to receive the items (or clicking which items you want). In a pt it's not nice either. If you use order distribution (needed for roll iirc) you'll slow the pt down, because only 1 person can pick it up. Oh and once you picked something up, forget about dropping it, because you can't. It's either NPC or auction house. All you have to do is press the "H" button, and it's all autolooted, problem solved.
6) The unique feature didn't last long enough. They should slow down their clock or nightmare time stays a joke. If the nightmare mobs stayed for any longer, they would not be a challenge to kill/find....besides they appear every two real life hours for about 30min, thats quite constant.
A few things why you should play requiem.
1) My 30'ish warrior still wasn't MP efficient. If I only used skills I'd be sitting on the floor a lot. General setup was: Auto attack > skull crasher > auto attack > power strike (name???) and repeat.
2) Missing quests, bugged quests (no text, NPC's who refuse to talk to you).
Bugged chaste sanctum if you started at Turba.
Bugged skills (either wrong description or a fault in the skill itself)
Told you these were in OB, not sure how many were fixed.
3) The amount if grinding is worse than the SRO grind, which is horrible enough for quite a few people I know.
4) Both Kruxena classes have a clear disadvantage in PvP and PvE. SH had an awful damage output and pets aren't all that much in PvP. PvP with pets = no fear lock because they would wake your target up. PvP without pets = fear lock but it would take a while to take something down. If you'd face a warrior who could place a stun, you had a date with the floor.
Rogues in PvE were bugged due to ineffective dodge and hit rates. I heard a lot of complaints that a rogue had a hard time to survive due to low def, low HP while not missing that many attacks.
Not to mention that a warrior was one the best classes in PvP with Stuns and fear coupled with high HP and damage.
5) It still sucks for partying. If a drop was assigned to player A, he and only he could pick it up, thus the whole party would be slowed down, because people needed to pick up drops. Before they changed it, anyone in the pt could pick up the item and then it went to the correct player leading to no slowing down.
6) Not much that I can add to my previous explanation.
