Okay so I bought BFBC2 via internet and all... One thing I didnt know, is that when choosing a server to play on the ping for some reason doesnt show up! -____- :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: that really ticks me off, because when I join a server I have 400 - 600 ping and well playing in that lag is just crazy, I tried to play on a canadian server, still same thing.. Anyone got a trick for this? thnx

Click 'Ping' again. It'll now show the PING for servers from lowest to highest available to you.
After highest(I believe the threshold is 300 orso), it shows a '-' to indicate the ping took too long, and you should avoid playing on that server.

If thats true then thats indicating I should quit the game lulz because all the servers do that for me...

I had almost the same thing for MW2... ping like crazy, I "ported" all over the place. Couldn't find anything to fix it so I had to return it. Do you by any chance play through a router? This can cause insane ping spikes.

Firewall/Router setting might also have something to do with it.

its a known bug with the server browser that DICE uses, that the pings are reported wrong in game. one of the gaming communities i play on alot, [NO HEROES] hosts several BFBC2 and TF2 servers. in their TF2 servers i get a reported ping of 40's to 60's. the BFBC2 servers get reports of 100's - 300's and all the servers are hosted on the same machine, which has more than enough power and available bandwidth. its just something you gotta deal with. if you're in the US, check out the No Heroes servers, they're pretty freakin sweet.

Put your machine in the DMZ if everything else fails. You don't have to leave it like that, but if it does solve your issue then it's a router issue for sure. Now you need to find what ports you need to forward, but some routers don't let you port forward all ports.
