Don't know if someone remembers I bought a XBOX360 some months ago? well, yeah. My main idea was to get a PS3 but I didn't had the budget to get one so I got a XBOX360 instead but NOW tomorrow on Black Friday or whatever it's called GameStop are throwing the following offers:
-199.97$ for PS3 160GB with 2 games (that worth 369$ so is like 170$ off) -50$ extra in-store credit when i trade my XBOX360 (I still have yet to see if its extra from what it really worth my XBOX360) I heard the maximum I could get is 90$ (yeah, I know total ripoff) so 90+50= 140$
Then I will just need 59$ extra if I were get the PS3 (is a good offer for the PS3 isn't?)
BUT: Kinect has 40$ off which is 109$ now. I heard good reviews about Kinect. Also if I were to get Kinect I wouldn't losing that much money by selling my whole XBOX360 systems including my games.
TL;DR version PS3 160GB with 2 games at 199$ by selling my XBOX360 with 50$ more in store credit
or
Get Kinect for only 109$
Hopefully I get answer by tomorrow :/ GameStop opens at 5am from tomorrow
Kinect is definitely a lot better than the PS3 move but as far as consoles go, I'd go with the PS3 for blu-ray and game selections. When my girlfriend moves in with me, we're planning to sell her PS3 to get an 360 so we can have 2 different consoles.
No matter what you do, just remember that a PS4 and a new XBOX will be out soon (in 2012). So if you want to sell your stuff later, do it BEFORE the new consoles come out. The prices will drop quite a lot!

Any reliable source on that or just rumours?
Last I heard was Sony and Microsoft waiting until around 2014 to release their new products.
the 2014 date makes sense as the news of people working on ps3 titles are recent

Next console is not comming out in 2012, well maybe the wii HD. But honsestly, who cares about the wii.
Oh and PS3 FTW! I have a gaming PC, a Xbox360 and a PS3 at home and I almost exclusively play on the ps3. When im not on the ps3, im playing TDs on SC2.

They should be shown off at E3 2012. The Xbox720 should arrive a bit before the PS4, though. I can't remember where I read it, but the leader of product management (or something like that) at Sony said that their strategy would be to launch at the same time as the other two competitors (Nintendo and Xbox). Supposedly they're getting stressed right now, though, as the xbox 720 will arrive pretty soon. Not soon as in a couple of months but let me put it this way: Forget everything about 2014. We'll see it way before. I can try to find the links for you, but you should be able to get the quote from the Sony guy by doing a Google search.
360 and PS3 are both planned 10 year cycles. I wouldn't expect any information next year unless WiiU gets a release date announced before E3 then they might jump the gun.

I am pretty confident that because the new Wii will launch quite soon as well, both Microsoft and Sony will jump in. Of course, this is not based purely upon what I think/believe as that would be ridiculous. It's based on the quotes from that Sony guy I mentioned above. And of course the fact that we'll soon see a new XBOX being announced as well (not launched - there is a difference).
We need Next gen consoles pretty bad.. I'm getting annoyed at how often you can see graphic bugs in newer games. Then comparing console to high end PC is just sad. No contest.
I am also looking forward to the next generation as graphic wise it should be the last relevant one. Pretty contempt here with crysis 2 level graphics and tbh from there is all about gameplay.

Yes, SHiningBow, the PS3 was supposed to last 10 years. However, Sony will not want to be the only one of the three major companies (Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony) that do not come up with a new device in the coming year or two. That's most likely why they are breaking the 10 year cycle.
That's the keyword "said". Just as Sony said. But look at what they said only a few days ago. They said that: It wasn't in their best interests to release their new console long after the competition.
Here is the article:
Quote:
"Undesirable" to launch later.
Sony is aiming for the launch of the PlayStation 4 to keep up with rivals after Jim Ryan, PlaySation Europe big cheese, said that it would be "undesirable" for the PS4 launch to lag too far behind the competition (next-gen Xbox, Wii U).
In the interview with Eurogamer, Ryan spoke of how Sony would want to launch its successor to the PS3 closer to its competitors, clearly referring to the year gap between current consoles.
"I think we would consider it undesirable to be significantly later than the competition [with the next-gen PS4]" he said.
And it's not only a possible Xbox launch that Sony has to worry about, as the Wii U should also be launching in 2012. And despite this urgency, it seems that Sony still may not be ready as, in the company's eyes at least, the PS3 has a fair few miles in it yet.
Ryan continue: "If you look at PlayStation 2, now in excess of 150m units installed globally, a huge majority of that was done at price points of? 120 or lower. We've only just hit £199 in the UK [with PS3], so clearly there's a considerable untapped part of the market there.
THere's also Son' slightly dodgy finances to think about and whether this has led to cutbacks in departments like research and development - something that Sony would want to be fully focused on if it's to go up against some pretty stiff console opposition.
Whatever the situation the message is clear from Ryan: Sony is going to do its best to launch the PS4 within spitting distance of the next-gen Xbox, and if that means 2012 it'll be quite a turn up.
There you go! I actually had to sit and manually write down that quote because it was from my smartphone and I couldn't find the article online, lol.
That doesn't relate to Microsoft at all. Planned doesn't mean it'll happen of course. I still don't expect any information until 2013. And I swear to god if they don't have at least 4gb of RAM in them I just don't know what to believe anymore. Even with Nintendo pushing the market this early. I just still don't see it happening til then. Yes of course Nintendo is pushing ahead and will cause the others to react. I just still don't see any information of the other 2 until the summer after WiiU is released. Maybe "Yeah we're working on <insert names> and information will be shown at <insert convention>" thrown around.
Though I can see Sony reacting to Microsoft over WiiU. Afterall look at what the 1 year earlier release did to the success of the 360 in America.
They've wasted too much money to release another generation of a console now. Meanwhile at Nintendoville it's printing money since release.

Why would nintendo releasing Wii's new version earlier affect Sony/Microsoft at all? Most of the people buying Wii's are casual/party/family based, xbox/playstation are based more on like, more serious games. I think its a totally different market. People didnt go to the store one day and had to decide between Wii and Xbox360.
Though i guess there might be some relation with Wii in terms of Kinect/Move, which are lame anyways.

I agree with you, unbeatableDevil. But nonetheless, it seems that they believe they can get a larger piece of the market by pushing the release.
And yes, TOshiaru, we can never know for sure what's gonna happen, but I do believe we'll hear something about Xbox 720 and PS4 before the end of next year. Please note, that I'm not saying it will be released next year, because that's not gonna happen for sure. I'm simply implying that I believe we'll hear more specifically about their plans. Oh yeah, and I'm quite sure the Xbox will be out before the PS again. Simply because I believe Microsoft, as you said, remember the great success the Xbox 360 got because it was released earlier than the PS3.
Nintendo will release way before the other two (maybe late 2012). But it won't be a brand new console, it will just be an upgraded wii with better graphics.
The other two will release their console in 2014, xbox first then sony a couple of months later.

It's because they can. They've sold what is it.. I believe x1.5~x2 units over 360/PS3? Sales probably started to slow down and nows the time to release a new one. I can even see the WiiU priced at a reasonable price around $250~$300. Anymore wouldn't be Nintendo like.
Release it right before Christmas next year. Start printing money again.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I know that Sony does absolutely not want to wait another year against Microsoft.

It is a brand new console with that tablet. Hardware has gotten very cheap over the past 6 years. So I can see them going with HD graphics.
Xbox releasing first? I don't know man. I think Sony will wait to announce any date until Microsoft does. They'll release theirs early.

Microsoft said the 360 was to be a planned 10 year cycle as well.
Technology moves too fast for that. It's only on what year 5 or 6? 360 doesn't even have blu-ray. It's Graphics and CPu aren't even that good anymore if compared to modern hardware.
I really hope the rumor that Windows 8 will be able to play Xbox games is true. Not holding my breath, but being able to scale graphics on an Xbox game would be awesome. I'm sure it would require a heavy software package to be purchased though as well as a special disc drive.
