Ok, so I am a 100% sure that I am not the only one annoyed by the fact that there are some immature people in this forum who love to type hate notes in threads. However, I know that the mods here are doing a great jobbing keeping the forums clean, and fun to be on. Even though this is true, I think that people who randomly claim that "enter name here" bots , and has no evidence, should maybe get a punishment. I hate looking in threads, and seeing " omg you bot, all lvl 80+ people bot, there is no way, omgorz!!!" Its just pure jealousy and ignorance. I mean I go into my guild leaders lvl 90 post, probably the most legit person in Athens, and people start spamming that he had to bot to get there. You could clearly see he was in a party with all the other guildies. I think this would be one step further to keeping the forums clean, because if people start keeping their fingers from typing ignorant things, they would start to learn and not repeat in future posts.

A good idea, or bad one?

it's a dilemma.

because if the person who was accused of botting turns out to be a botter indeed, what should you do for the people you already banned for accusing him?

I don't think people should be punished for being jealous. I mean, what does it matter what everyone else thinks. As long as you know that you don't bot or buy gold then it doesn't matter who calls you what. It's a rubbish community, everybody knows it. The mods already have a hard enough job as it is. Even though you told me not to flame it, I'm still sorta gonna do it.
Bad idea, you're just as bad as the people who accuse others of botting by making a huge big deal out of nothing, leave it up to everyone else to tell them to stfu, don't leave it up to the mods.

Im saying in random threads, if you want to accuse someone of botting, then post in the forum right below GD. Its just the spamming in threads of omg you bot, you cant be that lvl. Its hurting this forum

Ok, I have nothing against opposing arguments. However, I think being jealous is one thing. But being ignorant and stating false accusations is crossing the line. Also, if mods did nothing against spamming and posts that dont contribute to the forum but hurt it, then why would they be here? They are called moderators for a reason

Fair enough, if they're spamming then ok. But remember, spamming is an offence on it's own so it should be dealt with accordingly. I agree that people who accuse others of botting are ignorant, but I don't think they should be punished because of it. I say leave the punishment up to the community instead of the moderators, thats all.

I agree, I'm sick of it. Even if the person(s) are botters, it needs to be supported with evidence in the EB section.

1. Warning
2. 7day ban.
3. PermaBan.

Post disturbing, inappropriate, or NSFW (not safe for work) images in threads, avatars, sigs, etc. If you intentionally make more work for us, you'll find yourself banned.

GD mods will edit bot accusations in a certain degree.
If you feel a post needs to be removed just hit the report button.

Found the sentence in bold to be an amusing contradiction. You make the point that we have a hard enough job as it is yet you say you will flame people if they say things the the OP described. The only thing that flaming the person will do is cause a flame war which will mean more posts for us to clean up and ultimately it will lead to a thread getting closed down, more people getting warnings, and possibly even further issues between the users engaged in the flame war. If you really want to make our jobs easier just 1. Ignore the post someone makes and do not reply to it and 2. Hit the report button to bring it to a moderator's attention. A simple report can get much more done than just to flame people who make baseless accusations.

@OP: As MrBow said we already have the "constant problem" rule for such users and we do use that rule to get the members that constantly flame or troll posts out of the forum.

There's a difference between hardcore flaming, and flaming by stating your opinion. What I was doing was stating an opinion. Forums are set up for discussions, how can we discuss if there's only one point of view? I'm allowed to disagree with people, and if you call that flaming then be my guest and ban me.

I knew that if I told him I thought it was a bad idea that he would say that I was flaming, so I warned him prior to it.

You are allowed to disagree with people and there was nothing wrong with your comments in this thread so far I was just pointing out one point you made and thought it was an interesting point to discuss about posts in general. You are right, there's an obvious difference between "omg stfu stop accusing people you idiot why don't you go jump in a fire" and "If you are sure this person bots feel free to post in the EB section otherwise don't make accusations without proof." The first example I would consider flaming because it's not constructive and it's a direct attack on someone's character which isn't necessary in making a point while the other is more constructive and goes for the issue itself. However what's often the problem in those threads is you only really need 1 person to state the obvious and what often happens is (this goes for other topics) is after a while you will see 10+ posts of people going "ZOMG in b4 the lock" or "ZOMG ban him" or "LOLZ accusations everywhere" or "ZOMG its a flame war" which to me seems like the only thing some users care about is getting their post counts up and will give us more work. Personally I think that 1 person that needs to state the obvious is a mod and the report button is meant for users to bring things to a mods attention, which will in the end mean less headache for us all.

@Verfo: Your post is a great example of what I'm talking about especially since this topic so far isn't a flame war.

yeah good idea, they just starts talking crap and call's the person a botter when they don't even know the accused "botter". If they are really a botter then talk about it in game or post your IgN (person whos calling the other person a botter)and we'll see if the accuser is even in the same server to start off with.

Not to be a pest or anything, but could you just enforce that one a little bit more? People get accused for being a bot all the time, and it's really annoying to see a post where someone should be getting congratulated turn into a post where everyone is mocking them with no evidence what so ever.
Also, I always get accused for being a bot, but I like don't even play this game anymore -_-. In any topic discussing bot ethics or whatever, if I don't say "I absolutely despise them and they should burn in hell", then certain people tend to say "omg, you must be a bot! Sad you claim to be legit".

I support this motion!

You shouldnt accuse someone to be a botter if you dont have any proof.
