Misc comment 1.

We humans store energy in fat cells because of our evolution. Food in the winter was scarce. Those who were fat survived. In the days of the viking, fat women were perferred because they lived through winter. Islanders profited from putting on fat, to surive the long migratory trips back to the mainland. Its hard to get rid of a feature nature engineered us to have. Also, excersize. Instead of running from sabre tooth tigers, were sitting at the office -.-

Misc comment 2.

Fat america is getting way the **** out of hand. JFC. Sometimes I sit at the foodcourt in the mall to eat during my lunch. Its fun to observe and watch all the different people in the mall interact. But it kinda goes like this: Fat, fat, fat, fat fat, fatfatfat, ok, fat fat, skinny, fat fat fat fat fat

Misc comment 3.

Fat women walking through the mall shouldn't wear neon colored spandex. This should be illegal.

I've always wondered this, but is America really like that? I live in Australia and take a lot of regular trips into Sydney (where it is much more populated than my tiny little town). Anyway, one trend I notice in the city is how many thin people I see. I barely ever see any obese people and it's not that common for me to see people who are "a little" overweight. I know, Australia obviously isn't America. But if people really are that overweight in America, I find it just sort of stunning I suppose.

Thats not true. Australia is actually the fattest nation in the world. It only beats America because there is so many less people living here, in Australia than the US. Not having gone to America, I cannot say how many fat people there are, but I see some people who are obese pretty much daily, I don't think anything of it though lol.

I would agree, but I don't believe a 38" waist is "disgustingly obese."

Idk about this. I looked up tons of statistics for the top obese countries in the world and none of them even had Australia in top 5. I always get American Samoa as fattest country with almost 100% of the people being fat.

Oh, well, it was atleast last year. Glad its not anymore, but we had a higher percentage of overweight people than America did.

I really do hate the entire thing they are trying to do, I truly do. I know, I hate a lot of things. Dam, I hate most things to be honest. But this really gets on my nerves.

Being overweight is bad for your health, we all know this. You are typically less fit and face higher chances of developing diseases and illnesses. But if someone chooses to be overweight and they are happy with their lifestyle choices, why not let them stay as they are? Not everyone who is fat is sad. Not everyone wants to be stick thin. Some people actually like the size they are and are willing to accept their body for the faults that it has, as opposed to trying to become a picture of the idealistic body.I think what we should be doing is trying to encourage people to stop placing such shallow opinions on people's bodies and get them to focus on eating healthy, but not concentrating on just "losing weight".

Myself? I am not one of these people. I'm around 5 foot 9 inches, or around 175cm's and I weight 65 kgs (143 pounds). At that weight I even think I'm too fat, and I'm working vigorously to loose weight. My goal weight is 60 kgs, perhaps lower if I can loose it without losing any muscle. And frankly I hate how shallow I've become, I truly do. But I see all these images of guys with perfectly ripped abs, not a drop of body fat on them and who basically have idealistic bodies and I think to myself "why would any girl in her right mind want to be with me when they can have someone like that?". I'm a white, boring, cynical nerd with a shocking personality, i don't have much going on for me. And considering the shallow tendencies that society has developed, all I can do is succumb to the pressure of trying to loose every ounce of fat I have in order to meet other people's standards. Either that, or die alone.
And people try to tell me that a mass wide effort to loose weight is a good thing. All it does is destroy the confidence of everyone who has imperfections and reminds us all that no matter how thin we are, you still suck. Bah!

No one likes being fat.
Yeah, sure, they'll laugh it off and tell you they're happy the way they are.

But everyone smart enough to tie their shoes knows that no one is happy with fat.

Hot bodies are being rubbed in our faces on daily basis, and me, with my 188 cm high and 85 kgs, I am one of those people that really wants to have a body like that, but I am WAY too weak minded to go to the gym regularly, say no to cake, energy drinks and candies, which I all eat secretive.
Although I'm really doing my best to kick off of those, because my best friend is coming back from spain in october and I want to see the look on her face when I got like totally hot and skinny, I probably won't be able to.

Though I can do 10 miles in half an hour by bike and do that twice a day now, I don't think it'll work because of those damn supermarkets ¬.¬ damn them damn them damn them!

Ugh, tell ya what, I'm not even comfortable eating something greasy in public. When I'm with friends and we're going to have something to eat, I either eat something very small, or just drink something.
Especially when I'm alone, I rather smoke another cigarette then eat something like even a small vietnamese eggroll in public.

Can't stand it if people I don't know can see me eating. Not being the skinniest person on earth, I hate it because even though they seem friendly, everyone makes an incredibly offensive comment in their head to anything.

I'm a freak like that.

individual freedom ftw.

This would be the right answer but the likelihood that our not free market could produce such a thing is just not there.

I do want to say something more important regarding this subject later but blah blah I'll try to get to it when I am in the mood for it. It's regarding the actual foods we are consuming and the notion that "americans are stupid/lazy scum and that is why they are all fat".

to say that most americans are fat is a generalization and exaggeration but there are a good deal of just simply obese and fatty people with beer guts spilling out over their waistbelts. The problem is too much sugar and salt in american diet. its disgusting as fck.

I agree with 'all' the statements. However, I fail to see the relevance of Misc comment 1, as well as the accuracy. Whether that was true then, with changes in values/virtues/morality/civilization/everything, I guess you could say, fat is going out of style :P
