This is very scary, I can't believe someone would do this. They were saying the shooter might be portraying one of the roles in the movie. My hearts go out to all the victims of the killing. I was at the midnight premiere in Pennsylvania and just the thought of this makes you feel sick to your stomach. I hope they get the second shooter and put these guys in custody right away!

Terrible incident, but who the fuck brings a 3 month baby to the movies? It's not even like a children's movie.

Well.. of course, it's bad. But they would have slept through the movie and gone home "ALIVE"

These types of tragedy happens so much in america that I`m not even appalled or surprised anymore. The freedom to bare arms is just "too free" in that country in my opinion...Almost any moron can go buy guns....

Not saying this couldn't and doesn't happen in other countries with strict gun laws but it happens way too often in the states...Then again.....simply being able to get a gun easily might not be the problem since there are other countries with similar gun laws as the states but with far less public shootings...

Eh..they were obviously young, the alternate would have been to somehow find a babysitter at 12AM at night (well they coulda had their friend/families take him) or just leave him alone at home
And again, which baby is actually ever sleeping at 3AM in the morning? thats usually when they wake up.
Spoiler!

It's quite unnerving to find out that such a thing happened at the very theater you frequent...

I just heard the press release(not sure if that's what its called) from the sheriff of Aurora, Colorado. He said that they believe the suspect, the guy they arrested behind the movie theater is the one who did all the shootings and acted alone. He also said that the apartment where the suspect lived is booby trapped with incendiary devices, and trip wires and such so they are currently evacuating the apartment building before exploring into in any further. He also released his criminal history which was only a speeding ticket he got last year.

They could of just stayed home. No movie is more important than your infant baby.

Three month old babies don't have normal sleep patterns. They'll sleep anywhere if they're tired and they're awake when they ain't. The problem is the potential for the baby to start crying and annoying other patrons. This is why theaters have baby showings in the afternoon. So everyone can annoy each other.

The real problem was with the 6 year old. That's flat out f'ed up parenting.

I want Cam or Mad to check in.

I find it odd you guys give so much attention to bad parenting here. A dude bursts into a cinema and starts shooting people and the first thing we do is blame parents for being stupid to bring their child to an unfit movie?
I would agree that it's not the best move to bring your infant child to a cinema, but when that child then gets shot I think it's patently preposterous to start whining about bad parenting.

A baby got shot in a cinema, but hey.. bad parenting... they brought it upon themselves.

This is just Sickening.

I don't think any motive in the world could justify what he did, completely pre-meditated and determined to cause as much pain as possible.

12 Confirmed Dead and lots more injured, some in Critical Condition..

This is the action of a deranged person, so help me god if the media tries to turn this around and start blaming Movies and Video Games.

Which knowing American Media, they probably will try to do.

i agree that it's sort of weird to bring parenting up. you're not wrong, just seems pretty redundant.

really difficult to wrap your mind around people like this guys thought process.

1. Yes, it did enter my mind when I heard about an infant in the cinema: "those fucking pricks".
2. I do feel bad about the loss of lives but given the world we live in today, it really shouldn't surprise anyone.
3. Yes, it was definitely premeditated and carefully planned. It was not something he chose to do on impulse. However, I also believe that he had a serious case of mental illness which led him to carry out this type of plan. He did not commit this out of a strong idealistic belief but rather a delusion of some sort. Whether he is sane enough to stand trial as a murderer or as a mentally ill person, we would all have to wait to find out.
4. I saw the movie tonight. Fucking awesome.

Restricting gun control because of this incident is stupid. This was premeditated, aka he had enough time to acquire gun's through "illegal" means if that was really necessarily.

If anything, this incident only further reinstates my belief that the 2'd amendment is a good thing, and a freedom that people should use more often.

Anyhow, hope the mofo gets the death penalty.

Innocent people gunned down in a theater. Belief in the right to bear arms only strengthened. God bless America.
Things would've obviously turned out better if more people had guns and the theater would've erupted in an all out guns blazing brawl.

I mention it 'cuz ppl have called me out doing the same thing.

The gun control issue ends up being anecdote vs. anecdote. One story that impacted me was that of Suzanna Hupp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzanna_Hupp) who lost her parents at the Luby's Massacre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luby%27s_massacre). At the end of the day, when I look at this outside of emotional anecdotes, I have to agree with Frederick Douglass who said that American freedom is guaranteed by three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box and the ammo box.

Oh yes, because you know people who go on shooting rampages are obviously going to be deterred by some law. Oh wait, no their not.

Your lack of understanding is amusing, as always.

I'm still just wondering why he chose THAT theater...The theater me and my bro frequent quite often. I know it'll sound farked up, but I'm somewhat relieved he chose that day/time instead of another time when me and family/friends might've been there. I didn't want to believe it happened there when my bro told me in the morning. Thought he was joking around. Really messed up the rest of the day; was just eerily quiet. Felt like yelling just to kill the quiet at times...was very depressing: were very few people on the train, very few people at school/work.

The area (the mall) near the theater was crawling with news and people wanting to take pictures, etc. Never seen that parking lot packed so much before. Kind of sickening of all the random people walking along the police tape to take pictures on their phones of the theater.

Still surprising and messed up he managed to do that much damage when the friggin' aurora police station is literally just up the road. Takes only about 2 minutes to drive from there to the theater.

So in your opinion criminals have a bit of an advantage because they can ignore the law and bear arms. In response, we should all bear arms to even the odds. If we don't, we're obviously disadvantaged by someone who can ignore the law.
If we reason this way on every criminal issue, then what's the point of the law? A criminal always has an advantage because he ignores the law. We have the law there to prevent it from happening. When you, however, change the law to level yourself with criminals then you're opening the door for a lot of trouble.
Fighting guns with guns only promotes more gun use.

And what's this lack of understanding you speak of?

I read an interesting article about the impact this event has on the "pro gun" vs "increased gun control" debate....It states that criminals bent on carrying out mass killings don't care about strict gun laws so it doesn't make sense to increase gun control...They've already made up their minds and will do whatever necessary to obtain the means to carry out their plan..

It also states that it would be a real massacre if (nearly) everyone had a gun but with no clear understanding of who the real "bad guy" is....especially in a darkened theatre (or anywhere else as you can't rely on strangers to make the right decision in these high stressed situations)...Anyone with a gun is the potential maniac just as much as the real maniac with a gun...Thus both sides of the gun argument are flawed...
