I started a new account pure str bow and im lvl 14, i trained fire (lvl 8 now) because people say fire is the best for bow, but most people that i see that use bow use cold as their main skill instead of fire. Should i keep training fire or should i make cold my main skill?

Dont say stuff like well this is good for pvp and this isnt, just say which one would u rather choose.

I used fire from 1-67. Its great for both pvp and pve.

Cold is great for pve and pvp only if you dont plan to play to the higher lvls, where there is ice immune.

There's missing the option "both"

That "everyone is immune at the cap" is bullshit.

3/4 of the 64+ i duel is not immune.

And if youre reaseonable enough to keep a open mastery gap, getting both imbues should be the smallest problem ;)

Its also fun to experiment around with, see what you like the best at higher lvls.

Remember its just a game, youre supposed to have fun, not take everything so seriously :)

IMO, fire is better than cold... damage is better later than freeze because i think higher levels have resistance.

But don't base yur character on what other people think, do whatever you feel. Its a game, have fun and dont take it seriously.

I didn't say everyone is immune, I'm just saying its more evident in the higher lvls anyway.

Yes, and I'll agree with you that 3/4s of the 60+ are not ice immune, the low 1/4 are most likely SOS'ed out any way.

Both cold and fire are fun imbues

Fire Kills faster
Cold freezes, saves you pots.

You decide.

currently i use fire because it kills faster and saves me arrows, altho i'd rather use cold cos i like the element better.

For grinding i use fire, since it kills faster.

Archers already have range and doesnt really use a lot of hp pots when grinding, so ice is not that nessesary.

However for pvp i always have ice imbue ready. If i encounter someone thats immune it takes me less than a second to switch the icons in the quickslot, so im hitting with fire arrows instead :P

And no worries pake, wasnt referring to you.

Just in general on this forum, i hear so much talk about "everyone is immune" :P

The damage difference from fire - ice, is not that big until you reach higher levels.

I can see youre only lv 42 at the moment, so no wonder you cant see the difference. At 64+ you will :)

But you know, people should use what they like.

However imo ice is not overall better. True it saves you pots, but fire will make you grind faster. And unless youre an uber weaksauce of an archer its not needed for grinding. You already have 20m+ range.

fire > cold. I was ice until the 50's on my archer. The best thing I ever did was delevel it.

the shield skill prevents 78% reduce meaning you only need a total of 22 % on your jewelry. If someone at lvl 70 is not imune he shuold be burned alive.

so ice is weaker but has the probability of freezing and the chance that you might kill the mob b4 it reaches u
BUT! fire is stronger, and if it hits harder on mobs, then you could also kill it b4 it reaches u
but fire is always good in PvP

Negative ;)

I say both imbues ftw.

Frostbite in pvp is worth gold for an archer. Dont worry about damage, anti devil crits will get your opponent sooner or later.

And if you encounter somebody who's immune like i stated above it takes less than a splitsecond to switch imbues in the quickslot.

both definitely.
However, when in doubt invest sp in fire I guess... because of frost immunity nowadays and fire helps one train faster, though you may take more dmg.

it'd be nice to go both, but i think that lightning mastery is almost a definite requirement because of grass walk. therefore, that only leaves enough for one other element mastery. since most archers are pure str, fire seems to be better in terms of buffs. the physical damage boost and magical defense help out. then again, ice has freezing, which is definitely helpful. also, when your archer is pure str and relies on crits and str damage, does the imbue make a significant difference? i'm thinking about starting a bow character, so it'd be nice to hear some opinions.

i think cold bow is the best. MOnsters who don't attack from range won't even get to u if you're far enough. Besides, in PvP freezing or even frostbiting an opponent is annoying even if he uses pills. For example using the cold wave arrest books with bow is excellent, because on higher levels, u freeze them instantly(believe me i've tried it...:))So that's why cold bow is the best.

ice vs fire, will alwayz be threads bout this lol

my opinion i love ice, its fun freezing mobs and not being touched
and also ppl who are not immune, best times is when they forget pills :D

but at 55 i guess since im pure str, the damage diff with imbue isnt so big.
im sure int will see a big diff between ice and fire imbue.

just go with w/e your having the most fun with.
if you dont like it cuz of pvp, just switch it. thats why jm was nice enough to give us curse hearts and skill thing on item mall

Fire is definitely stronger but both have their advantages. If you're only doing 2 skills (weapon & fire) it's not a big deal to add a third, you might end up having to farm some SP to get them all way up but 3 skill trees is pretty normal, I'm doing 4, argh. But yeah I'm with zexy -> both imbues and just switch em as needed. Personally I have one of my F-bars setup for PvE and one for PvP.. works out imo.

Very, very good point. for a str based char you NEED those buffs, and the passive.

Get both fire and ice imbues.

Because not everyone is immune to status ailments, first you try using cold, if they're immune, switch to fire to deal better damage. If they can be freezed, it's your advantage. That's the trick.

Just a question... Why not to go light?...

I can see that every NPC thief Archer in the game is light. Must be a reson for it. Pls just want the know why light is not an option as I can see in this forum.
