don't you people have parents who tell you this stuff on a daily basis ...i feel like im the only one who didn't read that nodding his/her as if i never realized all that stuff and im only 18 -_- its mostly common sense what he should've done was give them information they can use instead of pointing out facts of life that if you've worked a day in yoru life you'd know

Maybe you're just a genius.

The thing is, 90% of this forum doesn't have a job and never has. Just cos you know doesn't mean it's useless info. I've been aware of that stuff for awhile(once life started givin me kicks in the ass here and there), but that doesn't mean everybody else is.

Damn I can't believe how many of you are sayin the same stupid ass thing: Just cos he's never experienced hardships in life doesn't mean he can't see how they come about and how they may be worked on and beaten. In fact, THAT'S PROBABLY ONE OF THE REASONS HE'S SUCCESSFUL IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Thing is, Bill Gates isn't someone who should be talking about flipping burgers being an opportunity. The dude made a fortune on a program for computers, not working his way through a corporation, or career.

Yea, because programming and building an international billion dollar industry isn't a career. I do that shit on the weekends.

lol. Think they flip burgers at Microsoft? My point is, people paid out the ass for something he basically made in his garage. Which led to his billion dollar industry. I seriously doubt after striking deals with IBM that Gates ever needed to work at McDonald's hoping for opportunities. And even if he thought he did, his rich ass parents probably could've footed the bills for awhile.

Right, Gates knows nothing about opportunity and hard work.

/sarcasm

Minus the sarcasm you're exactly right.

Anyway, my opinion stands. Those rules would sound a lot better coming from someone else, who actually has had to live by them at some point. There's nothing wrong with any of those "rules" and I'm not going to say whether someone can or can't say them. It's just that coming from Gates, it sounds the same as someone giving you detailed instructions on something they have next to no idea about.

It's not like Bill Gates woke up one morning and was a billionair.
Effort it must have cost without doubt.

Why don't you send him an e-mail and ask him what he thinks about flipping burgers?

Effort sure, but compared with an average person working day to day? I really don't think there's any comparison. And we already know how he feels about flipping burgers lol, even though he probably never has once in his entire life.

Comparing billionaires with average people is the same as comparing raccoons with horses.

Which is exactly why Bill Gates isn't the kind of person to be giving out rules on the real world.

Yo they ain't rules, they're advice FFS! Advice that you can choose to take or not to take, if you wanna be stubborn about it. I find it ridiculous to judge the advice someone is giving based on their technical background. If it's good advice it's good advice. It being from one guy to another makes zero fucken difference.

Oh, and Bill Gates is the smart one: Instead of settling for shit, day to day jobs, he wanted something better. He wanted to do what just about every entrepreneur or capitalist wanted to do when he was young. Work little to make a lot.

Well way to take that the wrong way. If my parents are perfect just because they told me how shitty life was what does that say about your parents.....

Or you'll be forced to spend the rest of your life in a cubicle with the biggest moron as your boss.
Just like Dilbert.
