Ok so heres my dilema. I have been learning about autoit and like to mess around with it, but i also like to stall on silkroad, And i my friend was telling me that some bots are run on scripts. So my question is, will i get banned if i am stalling ingame and am meesing around with auto it at the same time? My friend says that the script has to be interfering with the client to get banned, but i really need a profesional opinion on it.(only have one computer so pls don't suggest using 2).

That's probably why they don't ban bots :P

They can't detect the usage. As far as I know, the GameGuard engine is what detects 3rd-party applications. As we all know, the SRO_Client.exe does not actually contain any game-guard engine software, it's just pretends it does.

I am not 100% sure, but chances are, they won't know a thing. They are too busy making money and not working on the actual gameplay at the moment anyway.

they are really able to detect bots. Look at the older ban lists. Do u really think JM would waste so much time to ban thousands of bots by hand?

That just made me think of something. Some players that dont bot could just use this in autoit? And just click on mobs? To just spam skills hoteys. Would that make them a botter?
Code:
while 1
fight()
WEnd

func fight()
sleep (100)
send("1")
sleep (100)
send("2")
sleep (100)
send("3")

endfunc

Yes, but they look at those results based around the character activity in a specific time span, not based around the applications used on a player's computer while SRO_Client.exe is in the memory.

Done it before using AutoHotKey to buy and break second degree blades for elements (and sometimes to insult nublets). Haven't been banned yet. :D

It can still count at botting at certain terms. Using autohotkeys usually blurs the line between doing stuffs legitly or not. It's a gray area. :S

But they won't detect anything unlees you try using script to include and interfere with the client, which is for retards. I don't think auto hotkeys is botting, but a very thin line. Can't be banned for it i don't think.

Game guard wouldn't work on it if it's just spamming 1, 2, 3. Cause it even spams em when your not in game. on like a notepad it would still spam them. Simply because it is not interfering with the game in any way, but pressing 1, 2 ,3 alot.

Same here. So long as we keep it just for doing lazy work like breaking items and elements or maybe even spamming towns with your stalled items. Try not to do the latter though... @_@

No, because a legit person wouldn't remain moving their character for 168 hours a week. Sure, players can stay logged on and be fine. But if their character is killing monsters for 168 hours non-stop, Joymax can detect it and will ban you.

Hence the reason a lot of innocent people get banned, and a lot of complaints are made.

well I use it sometime in sro, but it's not that useful, well when I got a pt giant to take down I can set my 1-2-3 script and relax my fingers lol. I was using it alot in guildwars as a spambot lol or for hero sync spike 8)

but it sro, spamming in town is useless now and there is not alot of advantage to macro.

I can guaruntee you will not get banned. I've been using auto it to auto heal my wolf and form parties for me...it's buggy the forming party one because if you're moving the mouse...it get's weird. I didn't write these myself, they are from farhad, but I use them.

You can also use autoit to help with dual wielding so you can change your weapons much more quickly. Furthermore, you can add conveniences such as autobuff (I use tilde; after I press "~", autohit sends "f3, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,f2,0,f2,9,f3,8). This puts on all my buffs and even the ones that requires me to change to bow.

This isn't a blurring of the line between botting and not. One you can leave alone for hours (or even days) at a time, the other...if you leave alone for a few minutes...you die (or at least don't gain any experience). Furthermore, autobuffing just save 30 seconds of my life (or to be more precies 44 seconds, 5 seconds per regular buffs, 3 seconds to activate bird, 1 second for grasswalk).

But, if you truly believe that auto-healing your wolf (when you have autopots for yourself) is botting, then please stop using autopots and auto-pill-ing.

Meh, it's saved me a few mills on wolf rezzes. =P

edit: these exact scripts can be found on the sm site.

If you based the difference on time, it wouldn't solve the distinction because you'll have to set a precise line that classifies acts on one side to be botting and acts on the other side to be legitimate. To be honest, this line, whatever the argument is, would turn out to be arbitrary.

On a second point, I don't think botting should not be based consequentially. It doesn't matter if a person doesn't gain any XP or gain a tremendous amount. So long as he/she is using a bot, it would still be botting.

Anyway, let's leave the botting conversation aside as this board is already suffering from numerous ones.

I personally have no quelms over botting; some people want to do it I don't care. I don't do it and it doesn't hurt me. You're right though that the line that I've drawn is arbitary, but then isn't auto-potting using a bot as well? Isn't a machene doing what you're supposed to be doing yourself. During the beta, I remember that people would yell at each other for using auto pot when it came out. =P Things change...I don't think there's a single person who pvp's without autopot (I have...adds a new challenge and is fun, but I lose more. >.<).

I do however get annoyed when my wolf dies or when I forget to form a party (because suddenly I'm leader). Autoit I personally like because it's so simple to use/learn.

This thread is sounding more and more like jsro and ksro where botting is accepted (they realize 80-90 requires no life to obtain). I'm not sure whether this is good or bad, but i'll roll.

That's exactly why macros (such as autoit) are allowed. There's no difference between the two since there's no gameguard on the computer.
