I don't know much about the forum, so I was just wondering how srf got started, thanks.

Well it started with SD_Ryoko (Ryoko)

And he made this forum when SRO was in early beta and had this as a home for the BlackHandAlliance until his own guild and a lot of the alliance turned on him (Not me and a few other i left the guild for a short while because of it)

Anyways it was moulded by a few of the members with good suggestions...i think i was the first to suggest the off topic hehe

Anyways me, moogie, dem, ziggy, ryoko, blain & suicidegrl were the ones who helped it become this today

Add some clarification on things

I liked SRO a lot, and I am an admin on other sites like TheHelper and World Editor Tutorials (see affiliates) so I also started a forum for silkroad.

Ironically, within the first week someone came and posted about how the forum was a complete waste of time :D

Wong was correct, I was in a large cool union. I didnt get along well with a few people in my guild, and there was aruging and insult every day. The leader, my real life friend, wasn't on much anymore do to real life, and wasnt there to sort the problems or put the foot down. As things deteriorated and I grew tired of being shouted at by 16 year old kids, I second guessed where I was - and eventually left.

Although invited, I couldnt rejoin my former alliance (or other guilds in it) because I am a star-popper and I don't plan on changing that; I robbed more people in a day than most do in a week.

Some came with, we formed a new guild, which is now level 5, and has 48 members with 4 or more on the waiting list.

Stayed friends with most of the old union, but over the months as more and more robbed or killed me, they were slowly deleted from the friends list, with SuicideGrl (supermod!) being the only one on it now.

There was a short period where I shut the forum down. Someone in my guild took screenshots of everything I said about the star popping issue, and passed it around to people on the forum, made threads about it in the forum, and somewhat "blackmailed" me with through PM. The drama involved in running a forum this large - for free - was no longer worth the effort.

A good lesson learned is that no matter what people say ingame, they have no real impact on your life or whether or not your boss signs your paycheck.

In Warcraft, my IGN was well known, but in that game you rarely run into the same people twice. Its not like an MMORPG ( this is my first one) where people knowing your IGN can have much consequence and drama. If I could do it all again no one would know who I am =) But its a bit late for that, less I ditch my level 70 char.

This forum is THE sro forum. Taver, oasis or any other has no match 2 it, even though i know some of our members are also members of those. Honestly i dont know what i would do on the internet without it, its my first website to visit and honestly i dont need to visit anyother site. With the community here on SRF there is always something to do, whether its help out a new player with tips or guidence on SRO. Read some of the comic or amazing posts that people post in the OTL (i guess thnx for that wong). View the amazing works of our artists or just continue the ever going in game storys of some of our members.

Why is this THE forum? Well because of the communtiy, no matter where you go (well any forum ive ever been) you wont find a community like it, everyone is always willing to help, post a funny or interesting post or share their knowledge of SRO so others can benifit. Also the moding, all posts which break the SRF rules are quickly and effectivly delt with. Everything is moderated fairly and warnings/reminders are placed when needed. However its not just the mods but also the members without our willingness to follow the forums rules, SRF would be a very different place. And anyone who tries to interfere with the soul purpouse of breaking the rules and creating havok are quickly excluded from our forums. So its the interaction and harmony between the Mods and Members that makes SRO such a great site. As its said "It takes two hands to clap"

And offcourse Ryoko without you NONE of the above stated could have been possible. So we all owe you a big thanks, br proud in knowing you created such a great community
