Then don't get a dedicated graphics card and use your motherboard's onboard graphics.

I can play SRO/other "free" korean imports/CSS on my laptop's onboard graphics card. A bunch of graphic cards were already suggested, he said he doesn't game much (I assume he's saying that because he doesn't want to pay too much) so might as well use the onboard graphics than buy a $40 dollar card that does the same.

lol dumbass. reread.

and again everything depends on how much gamer you are, of cource the 1gb is pretty much useless, anyways if u play SRO its not worth to spend 500$ for a good card which will later worth 150$ and u wont even use its full power cause any 8 gforce series can play SRO just fine :p ... i was too about to buy 8800gtx but later just picked up a cheap one since i dont even need so much power for games i play.

The frequency at which you play games doesn't change anything, either you play them (and need a dedicated graphics card) or you don't.

I'm sure most onboard video isn't that bad these days, but if you want to play the new stuff you're going to need a separate card. New stuff = anything from like 2005 and onward.

Looking at the laptop section of futureshop, a lot of them are using 7xxx series nvidia - more than enough to play SRO/CSS. I'm sure they have comparable onboard for desktop motherboards.

Price tag actually isn’t too bad: $1130 plus tax:

Asus motherboard

Intel E4400 core-duo processor

2Gigs dual-channel DDR2 667 RAM

500MB 16MB cache WD hard drive

EVGA 640-P2-N821-AR GEFORCE 8800GTS 640MB DDR3 500MHZ DVI DVI HDTV (one hell of a video card!)

DVD burner

All in a good tower

this is what i was offered a 1/2year ago for that price above, i think i would upgrade from here though

The newer 8800gts g92 512mb dominates this card.

hey i got another question. when im building the computer online it asks me what OS i want. it give me the choice of a pre-formatted hard drive, xp, and vista. my friend has the cd to add xp to the computer, so could i get the nonpreformatted hard drive and then add xp? or would that not work?
