Hmmm...I didn't plan on buying it but now I've read some more stuff about it I may end up buying it after all :)

I first thought that this was an alien shooter but it has a pretty big RPG part in it :O

Well, here are 2 ideas 'bout Megaton. Turn Burke to the sheriff, he'll go arrest him and Burke will kill the sheriff. Kill Burke and take stuff from both of them. Or just blow the whole city down.

i know about the rpg elements, but I wanted to know more about the shooter elements in it. i saw a menu popping up that enabled you to pick where to hit the dude and then it automatically shoots him there, is it always like that or does it come with shooter elements a la COD and CS?

You can aim, zoom in, shoot, reload, holster, and use V.A.T.S (the system you described above) but that's about it shooting wise ;) You're likely to be more succesful by using the automated target system (VATS) :)

I don't think it's much different then cs/cod, but it's not the same either. It's a totally different type of game, and aiming/shooting is not its main priority, but the shooting system IS alike... aim, zoom, kill.

You can, however, build custom weapons, and you're responsible for repairing your own weapons.

So is there an option to play it as FPS? cuz doing the game with the VATS seems boring =x

You don't buy fallout 3 to play it as a "shooter"
It's a RPG/Action/Adventure game and you play it that way :)

Also, the VATS system doesn't get boring ;)

Yeah, VATS never gets old. I still squish the Radroaches just to see them explode everywhere. I was so fuckin shocked when I vaporized a ghoul with my laser pistol for the first time xD.

I taught this game was kind of shitty. Now I'm considering to buy it for my 360. Is there like a demo or something? I always like to try the demos out before playing.. Also one thing that catched my attention was the part where you can do whatever you want. Could someone explain it, just to make sure it's like I think it is.

Don't there is a demo due to the huge size of the map, they would basically have to create a new map just for the demo.

Then again they could just use vault 101 as the demo.

I just got this game, and I, too, thought it was very dumb and stupid, but, damn....I was wrong. It's a great game!! I'm primarily an FPS, RTS, and MMORPG player, and I agree that this shouldn't be considered as a shooter, but most of the elements in-game point to it as an adventure game.

I'll try and explain for your question. Your actions, ultimately, are triggered by certain results that occur by you (the character). Your Karma (being good or a bad person) affects what quests or situations occur. Also, discovering places on the map (there's quite a bit) opens up more side quests to do. Some good things you can do are helping to kill the "evil" guys, saving hostages, giving water to the thirsty, etc. Some bad things are killing people randomly, stealing items/property from people's houses, pickpocketing, hacking unauthorized computers, kidnapping people to become slaves for a client (quest), etc. When they say you can do almost anything, believe them. There's a lot of options or choices, and there's a lot of results that occur from these. Hell, even WHAT you WEAR affects or triggers things. So replayability is pretty high.

I'm doing the "bad guy" route, and I'm enjoying it. I just finished a city called "Megaton." After taking the information I needed for the main quest, my accomplice (Jericho) and I took it down, looted it, and blew it up. Now I'm being hired as a hitman to take out some ghouls. Presently, I'm being called a scumbag within the in-game radio for slaughtering the ghouls. Anyways, great game!

EDIT: Corrected spelling.

From what you've said, all I can say is wow.

That seems really awesome! I don't know, there are so many games to buy! It was easier when I bought the ps2 and I didn't know shit about the games--

Yeah, pretty good description :)

What personally rocks IMO, is the fact that the area is so HUGE, like you wouldn't believe, it takes you like half an hour at least to cross not even half of the map. You could walk endlessly somewhere and interesting stuff would come in your way. Buildings, which are huge, take some time to clear out and get all the stuff :) You have to hack computers which is fun, pick locks which is fun, and kill stuff. Always a chance of finding a sidequest, or you find some file in the computer that leads you to a key to some safe which you have to remember yourself. You're free in this game and that aspect is awesome. Not to mention you can even forge the good or bad you. You can, for example, in the first city, decide to disarm this bomb for the people there, but there's a evil person who is willing to hire you to blow the town up with taht bomb, you can go to the "sheriff" of the town and tell him, and trigger some nice events like this^^.

You can use people with several skills, like charisma, and get extra information out of them.
Most people have something useful to tell, I personally never skip an NPC unless I have to for some reason, I talk to them all. It's really fun to get caught up in the story.

There are HUNDREDS of places you can go and do whatever you want.

The radio station which you do come in contant with, is really fun to listen to, the DJ talks about you as you go on with your quests, talking about your good or bad deeds :D

There are sidequests with some of these people and these are really worth it.

You can play this game your way, include your own style and whatnot.

This is defenitely one of the best game I've played :)

Sweet. Also, it's not scary is it? I don't wanna add more scary games to my collection, a normal game would be good. :b
