Fix up the font and fill up the white spaces. Otherwise, it just looks bad.

Don't need to "fill" the white spaces, as negative space is just as important as the positive. I would work with a little bit of the negative space you have, but don't clutter it. Maybe some light accents?

It doesn't look bad, but is lacking something...that I can't put my finger on.

Personally, i'm a bg fan of white space, as I believe it's one of the best, and easiest design elements.

Yet the render has been used 100 times before, and the style aroudn the render as well.

I have to agree that render is used so many times. But I don't blame you cos I have same problem. It's simple and nice but some lightning effect would spice it up. Text could be better also.

The text is boring. It's just there looking like a big BLAH. Also put on a lighting source and take advantage of the lighting that the render already offers.
