iSinnnn wrote: Well, today was interesting. I got a random pst from a pretty well known warlock in our realm (now that's not saying much, it's a low pop realm, especially for alliance) asking if i wanted to join his guild/core 10 for raids seeing as how they didn't have a mage. I thought a bit and then decided to do it, after explaining to him i had just dinged 80 and wasn't properly geared for raids. started the night with a /gquit and ending with 3/4 of the quarters of naxx done (military left) and: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39271http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39229http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39492http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39493http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39254were the results. being a fresh 80 and never having even ran a heroic, it was a learning experience definitely. but the guys were really cool about it. we only ran normal, because they're gearing me and 3 others upLOL carried IMO! Grats on the ups though for sure. We do naxx 25 pugs on weekends; and it always seems like theres a freshie who walks out with 6-7 upgrades >.< heh

We continued our run of Uld 25m last night, cleared IC, Kolo, Auri, and then banged our head off the walls against Hodir repeatedly as a lot of people who hadn't been to him before learned the fight. Not enough people making use of the buffs and we can't beat the enrage timer. Also did a 10m VoA and a couple of Heroics to gear up some new 80s.

haha yeah i'm not denying that. i felt bad getting carried so hard, but they insisted and i'm not going to say no to free epics. thankfully though i wasn't the only one getting pulled along, so i didn't feel as alone.

We had a mage come to our naxx 25 last sat. Had near-full BiS pre ulduar gear with an ulduar item or two I think. Had gothics cowl, turning tide, the lotheb slippers. Pretty decked out.
Struggled to get a 4 on patchwerk =/ lol

Struggled to get a 4 on patchwerk =/ lol 90% of people suck at WoW. It's amazing how difficult "don't stand in the fire" and "mash these buttons for max dps" is for some folks.

No kidding. Half our applicants don't know what gems they should be using or why their talent spec sucks. It took like 8 DK apps to find a decent one.
And we check for those "I can avoid bad stuff" type achievements when we review them too. Im too tired to teach people their toon - I just wanna raid and add awesome people to raid with. lol.

Struggled to get a 4 on patchwerk =/ lol Spec? With fire, or especially arcane, it's easy to get 4k dps on anything really. He must be really bad. With 2 or 3 epics. cakewalk. Mage is easy dps.

I haven't got that far but gear and rotation for a mage look easy enough. 1: get hit capped 2: stack SP 3: stack haste over crit unless FFB FB/FFB Maintain LB/Scorch but try not to interrupt the current cast. Cast pyro as soon as it pops up but don't interrupt current cast. If everything else is up, spam FB or FFB. Arcane seems to be easier rotation wise but needs some mana management. 3 times arcane blast, then barrage unless missile barrage procs, then cast arcane missiles. OR 3 times blast and always missile proc or not. Nuke phase Spam blast, fire missile if it procs but only after at least 3 stacks of blast CD's need to be somewhat timed with bloodlust/heroism for better DPS. And all that by reading a few stickies on wowhead.

Arcane's best rotation is ABx3 + AM. Regardless if barrage procs, always cast AM.
Need about 18-19k mana to sustain though.

I thought you're suppose to use MBAM only at highest possible stacks of AB, preferably 3. Because AM has high total damage but low dps, so you would want to apply the highest AB stack for it.
I always do 2x AB to conserve mana, only go 3x AB during nuke phase.

The highest dps rotation is 3x Arcane blast, then Arcane missiles. Doesn't matter if it procs, always use arcane missiles.
When you get around 18-19k mana, you should eb able to sustain this rotation with clever use of mana gems and evocation.
For example, try to always start to evocate at the last tick of icy veins, it'll give the haste buff to evocation. etc. There's tons of tricks to make it easyer.

Not gonna last in a 6 minutes fight lol, I don't even bother using AP anymore to keep my mana. Problem is that 30% of my gears is probably PvP because Wintergrasp ones give haste and has higher ilevel than what I can get without raiding, so shit for spirit.

pvp sucks for intellect, u'd probably be better off with less haste, more crit, untill you have a bit more mana.
In arcane's case, mana nearly equals more dps, as you need to be able to sustain the highest rotation.
Haste drains your mana faster, no mana = dps loss.

Sigh, the guild I'm in now runs only 1 raid session per week, Ulduar 10 only and that's it when I can use upgrades even from Naxx 10. That's why I didn't bother logging in nowadays and leveled my mage on EU instead.

Why not dedicate some time in naxx, which you can clear in one evening.
I don't get some guilds.

Because they one that's raiding in the guild don't need upgrades anymore but they neglect gearing up new members while giving us a hard time for being undergeared in Ulduar. They are hardcore casuals so I don't really blame them, most of them being in late 20s and 30s while playing with as a couple or have kids yelling behind in vent.

Respecced, tried cuchulainn's suggestions, and killing so much faster now. Finished the level I wasn't able to get yesterday. Almost done with all of the Hellfire quests I've found. Checked the achievement, done 61 of 90.

I was down to 3g after respeccing yet again last night. Did Argent Tournament dailies, along with SoH dailies. Put leveling Enchanting on hold while I put a few things up for auction so I can pay my own repair bills. xD OH! Also did the cooking/fishing dailies in both Dalaran and Shatt'rath. I am one recipe away from my Chef title, and that is the ever-so-elusive Kibler's Bits. I am 12 Dalaran Cooking Awards away from my Chef's Hat. Ran around Dalaran mindlessly for about 15 minutes, and then logged off to play GoW2. I'm up to 409g now. ~.-

Finally cleared Naxx 10 today, though I lost the roll on a loot that I actually wanted the most, T7 shoulders. :/ T7 mage helm token and spellblade didn't drop from Kel'Thuzard so I'm still using my crappy argent spellblade.

Been herbing a bit the last couple of days. In TBC is made the mistake of giving the epic flyng mount to my rogue, instead of the mage. Making that up now.
bout 1k to go.
