Anyone has played the Total War series game?

My friend wants me to buy Empire Total War,but seeing how its 50$ here(and I dont buy online),I'd like some comments about the game. Is the Online Play fun?(Im planning on playing with my friend). Is the Solo Campaign good?

Oh,and should I get Empire Total War or wait for the upcomming Napolean Total War?

all total war games have AI problem with walls and gates, besides that, empire total war is pretty cool. even though the sea battle is a bit simplistic, it looks awesome nevertheless. i've never played online but there are some commentary battles on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJpCe6BO ... L&index=11

imo napolean tw seems to be an expansion (even though they refuse to admit it) and imo there's gonna be a larger empire tw online player base than napolean.

too bad u dont buy online cuz it's on sale on steam :/

I've played (TW) Rome, Medieval 2 and Empire. I didn't find Empire that interesting, all factions were very similar, gunpowder ruined it for me. Sea battles were fun though.
I still play a mod for Rome, Europa Barbarorum, loving it regardless of the old graphics. IMO mods are what makes the TW series great, can't really wait for EB II to come out for Medieval 2.

I can't really say anything about Empire's current state, but it was rather buggy and unfinished when it was published.

I got Rome Total War last week and I am playing the Empirical Campaign as Scippi.I've conquered all of greece and most of northern Africa, I'm moving my troops in Egypt now and am going to take the capital.
I've also moved some of my army into spain/portugal and I will commence to siege the city of Spain.

Once I take over most of northwestern Europe I will back stab my allies and take over all of Italy with multiple sieges at the same time.
This gave is BEAUTIFUL.
Its like a war game with in a stragetic RTS game at the same time
love it ^.^

Squirt, I urge you to download EB mod for Rome... It does everything 10x better than vanilla, and it's even historically accurate. :)

Rome total war... fuuuu
the squalor levels in that game made it quite impossible to have any vast amount of land, that alone killed the game for me, every few turns i would have to clear all my soldiers out of my cities, (so that they would riot, and rebels would take it over) just to keep the unrest under control. Empire total war war was pretty awful, imo; as someone said above gunpowder took the fun right out of the game, it basically became a camping match with all ranged gunpowder units.

Hard to camp when you have artillery and cavalry raining down on you.

Standing around and shooting only gets you so far.

Really love MW2. Empire wasnt anything amazing to me, just didn't like the whole gun part. Enjoy the Medieval aspect of MW2, and castle sieges.

MW2 or M2TW? Both great games, though.

MW2 stands for Medieval War? Whatever ,just the one that will show me a good experience of the Total War Series.

MW2 is Modern Warfare 2, M2TW is Medieval 2: Total War.
RTW is Rome: Total War and ETW is Empire: Total War. CoD is.. :P
