What xzas meant to say GOOGLE TRANSLATOR HURRR DURR Get the **** out man, there's nothing in foot ball ends. If you hit an attacking team like Argentina or a good defensive team like Brazil with rapid wing play you never go so far kicking. This kind of teams also do not take these teams do to win it to survive. You see it in the Netherlands, Oh we play against a good team .. Come let us defend and hope for a mistake in the Netherlands. Now, they find out that she might not go to the next round and go with them all the football as idiotic. The Pool of Germany / England saw that Germany / England lost points and then they were suddenly fully awake. But look at those goals of America and of Australia. These are not soccer goals although I must admit that I've seen this little World Cup. But you'll end up with World Champion.

What in the fuck is wrong with me?
Before the last couple weeks, I didn't like soccer at all. Yet today I was truly sad that I had to go to work at halftime of the USA and England game. I just wanted to see if USA would make it or not. So happy they did.
P.S. xzaz, use English on these forums, and realize this, I don't follow soccer at all usually, yet nearly everywhere I see, people have been saying that America is doing quite well this year as a team.

^most of the americans who blow off soccer as a girl sport/pussy sport seem to just say it without actually watching a professional game. Its really sad how americans in general intentionally ignore soccer when the rest of the world enjoys it..how pathetic and arrogant can people be to hide in their little world of football and call everyone else gay.
if soccer is a pussy sport, why is it popular in almost every developed country in the world? Guess that makes all non-americans pussies? god I love my country but some things about it just make me speechless.

This World Cup isn't making a good argument for liking the game though. So many dives by players, bad referees during American games, and then there's alsbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

edit: my first part of the post is a response to xzaz's dutch post which is translated in the spoiler Well I just don't agree. USA just isn't one of the countries that prays for the other team to make mistakes. They're not playing with 5 defenders or anything and they're not only scoring while their opponent makes a mistake. I don't think you're giving USA half of the credit they deserve. Just because they're probably less skilled than Brazil or Argentina it doesn't mean their entire team sucks. Also, who cares if they find renewed spirit when they find out they have a good chance of going to the 1/8th finals? Isn't that a good thing? All I know is that I saw real world cup football in USA vs Algeria. Both teams went for it as hard as they could in a tense all-or-nothing match and played real and exciting football. USA will never be a team that's just glad to be there. And don't forget they were second in last year's confederation cup. @Jstar1: Netherlands is a consistent top 5 team in the world (in rankings). We just fail putting our top tier teams to good use and we don't really win stuff. Sad but true. Netherlands has a lot of top players at top clubs in Europe. A good 'soccer' (euro's prefer 'football' ) country indeed. The google translate is very off translation: That was actually ten times more difficult to translate than I had anticipated. Too much background information that had to be worked into it as well. I think I got it in the end though. It's xzaz's message though so idk if I interpreted it right.

Oh come now, you know you were excited to watch USA qualify at 91'. And during knock out it's just gonna get better. (as soon as pansy defensive teams all go home... italy + uruguay, yeah, I'm talking bout you) Keep watching, best is saved for last.
And yeah, english forum, try to not to type essays in another language. The infrequent passes in a different languages doesn't really matter.

Ok they won but there is no tatic no player has realy soccer skills (same as Australia tho) and its just winning on mentality. There is nothing wrong with that, but you not going to make it far. 1/8 its where you quit what the hell are you talking about. Have you even watched any of USA's games? Surely most of US's players are average individual wise, but they play very wll together as a team, which is why soccer's a team sport. you have teams like england and france who have some of the best players in the world, yet struggle to play well together. and lol @ USA playing defensive comment. the US in this WC have played pretty good passing football (surprisingly). of all the 32 teams in the WC, there are 4 or 5 teams that can realistically win it. so are you saying they should just cut down the # of teams in the WC to 5 because all the other teams are just "survival teams"?

I agree, this world cup got gayed because of those stupid horns plus the shitty refs. But 2006 and 2002 are the world cups that I can clearly remember and both of them were really exciting.

I don't think europeans are going to care or believe that article, just rage more every time they hear the word "soccer".

Before the world cup, I knew nothing about soccer. I didn't even know the game had tactics, I admit I was a total soccer noob. But I'm getting interested in soccer after seeing a bit of the world cup, I've had a few people explain tactics with me during the game and it's pretty appealing, like a game of chess in many ways. I wish my timezone was much better though, I'm mostly asleep when the games are on >_> On another note Australia got eliminated. It was no surprise really, I never expected us to go far. But still, sadtimes

As for the American team, it's fun to see an apparent outsider to the sport play just as well or even better than countries who have invested alot more into it. If football were to reach a higher reputation in the US, i'm sure the team would improve drastically by means of tactics and technique... (would be nice if their mentality of fairplay stayed though)

No offence but they only won 1 game and that was against Algeria (#30), even Turkey is in front of them and they are not even on the World Cup, but thats another story. The other 2 games against UK and Slovania where OK but its a mentality question... and yes you can get far with this but you have to show some real football skills.
