Doesn't matter the age if you're without a license, you're without a license. Punishment is dependent on the location of which you're caught driving without a license.

Because i'm gonna start driving to college from my home everyday and I can't afford the high Insurance cost. Is the insurance cost lower if your 18?? or is it the same cost as any minor driver??

My friend did that and got caught, they took away his license for like a year, and he had to retake his permit test.

yea its gonna be difficult on you, at 18 if you take drivers ed, have/had a nice gpa and use a old crappy car your insurance shouldn't be unbelievably high, it will most likely be high none the less.

I would rather drive legally but my parents said that insurance is too much. And getting to college is a must. How much insurance cost if u drive a Toyota corolla? I looked that up and it's listed as a recommend car for teen drivers.

get a quote online if you are looking for a rough price, but really if you can't afford it and you NEED to drive, just don't get it.

People tell me they can't afford insurance, I don't see how you can't afford it. I just bought a new car on Sunday (Hyundai Elantra SLX, $19,400) and insurance for it will be $70 a month (I pick it up on friday). That $70 a month is full comprehensive insurance and covers the full repair cost for both my car and any objects I damage when I run into then. A simple $70 a month could save me buying another $20,000 car or could even save me spending $60,000 if I total someone else's Audi A4. Personally, I think someone is insane to drive without insurance.
As far as the no licence thing, don't do it. If you get caught (which is quite likely due to random breath testing) you will face a fine of a few thousand dollars and probably loose your licence for 6 months, or in your case be prohibited from getting one for another 6 moths. Again, simply not worth it. If you need a way to get there, buy a cheap motorbike and get a licence for that. Your idea is insane.

One thing that you might want to do, is get Insurance under you parent's name. They should get a lower quote. Normally they give high quotes to younger/new drivers.
I don't know if you can do that in the States, but you can do that in Canada.

When you do this in Belgium with permit you can't get your official license until you're 21

I don't know if you can do that in the States, but you can do that in Canada. Volkwagen Rabbit 2009 Year 2010 17 years old = 330$ per year (as second driver) 17 years old = 2400$ per year (as first driver) 52 years old = 1400$ per year (as first driver (because of foreign driver's liscence) 52 years old = 1100$ per year (after 1 year of being back in canada) **before moving out of canada** Year 2000 44 + 34 years old = 600$ (both first and second drivers, for 2 cars together ) Nissan Altima 2000, Nissan Voyager 1996 So yea insurance is gay but its a must... Like Key-J said, if you can have a car under your parents name, and be the second driver of that car, then perfect... If not your screwed

I usually take my mom's car out around the neighborhood cause i'm too lazy to walk or if I need to drive to school real quickly. One day, I was driving down one of the main roads, and I saw like 3 cop cars drive past me; although they didn't stop me, I did get scared and started to think too much about how i'm driving and stuff. I thought it was too risky; so I drove back home

if your parents get you ON their insurance it shouldnt be more than 50 usd / month. if they cant and you have to get your own policy, im betting itll be 125+ per month. get a part time job like an adult and get the money for a license and insurance. driving is a privilege, not a right. .AWAKE. wrote: dont do it, period.

My friend did this all the time so we could get pizza and rent video games. His mom was fat and lazy but we never got caught.

The worst thing is that most people who get caught without a license are initially pulled over for a different reason. So if you were driving without a seatbelt on, and a cop pulls you over for that then asks for your license - bam! You just got double penetrated.

Normally you wouldn't get jail time. Car would get impounded/permit suspended and have to wait a year to retake permit test and take a couple days of driver safety courses before getting your license. As well as fines for Driving without a license/insurance. They take the insurance more seriously though and that's what get's the car impounded.
