http://www.cnbc.com/id/38752111i strongly urge people to intentionally avoid purchasing anything on this list: as a means to support those struggling in NY. i strongly urge you to encourage others to do the same.

In the example, $17.50 a hour is still pretty damn good for a factory worker, a lot better than minimum wage at wal-mart or something. Idk why they are complaining so much, better than being outright fired, especially in these times.

no. that isnt the point. the company isnt hurting. their profits are outragous, but they cant support the employees that have made them who they are. it is because of this kind of corporate greed that we will remain in our poor economic state. they need to be made an example of. dont treat that like its a lot of money. they are in NY. much like CA the standard of living expenses are much higher. .

The problem with management and unions these days is that both are too greedy and too selfish.
Why do you think GM failed so hard 2 years ago? CEO and management and the blue collar workers were so selfish cause they both wanted so much and that led to the bankruptcy of the company. You think its fair that GM CEO makes $7 million a year and owns a yacht to bang his trophy wife on? Do you think its fair that some high school dropout can make over $100,000 by working overtime (this is not to say that blue-collar workers don't deserve higher salaries, only that there is something wrong with the picture when a line worker makes more than a college grad due to the line worker's union's greediness)?
So both management and line workers fail, and fail hard. And guess what, what about the people in the middle? You know, the middle class workers who studied hard in college and live comfortably? The accountants, engineers, HR, designers, marketers, etc etc? They get the short end of the stick thanks to these assholes on both ends of the spectrum and get laid off. And the sad thing is that the employees in the middle of the chain are the ones that make the company more profitable and more efficient. Until CEOs and line workers change their attitudes, don't expect things to get amazing in private industry.

ok im tired so im going to make this short and to the point.
i work for tesco its huge and it did well during the the credit crunch but here is the kicker it didnt do well though sales it did well though cut backs, streamlining and having to lay off unwanted staff.
yes its a huge company but if it didnt do these things it would have made a loss which would have been more devastating to me as an employee. not one company has avoided the credit crunch but some people are more greedy then others i dont think its right to strike unless you fully understand the companies reason for doing what its done.
i doubt many people here understand either so i wont get into a discussion about it but a big company is more then just sales of its product or products its about management and eficiency.

they stated clearly that there wasnt the possibility of a loss. they just want to improve their profits. itd be different if there was the impeding loss. they blatantly told their employees there wasnt.
