I don't understand why many people think that strength hybrids are a sure path to failure. It seems similar to saying that "all ints are failures" or something like that. This is a game and this thread is meant to help make people feel free to do whatever build they want to. Feel free to add your input everyone but I think there are some bonuses to building a strength hybrid:
-- You can pump in int at beginning for awesome sp farming speed compared to a pure strength, and you also train much faster at lower levels especially.
-- All weapons have more magical attack than physical attack, and you can use a high critical spear that is cheap and do a lot of damage both normally and with criticals.
-- You have enough hp to survive longer than a nuker, but you have enough magical balance to compensate lost damage from physical damage with more damage from imbue.
-- Str hybridization might not be the best choice when looking simply at how a character fairs in pvp, but when looking at pve and more flexibility when it comes to weapon, you could save more money by getting good deals on stuff.
-- You have a greater variety of forces that you can use to great effect-- you won't always have to do a pure-str-glavie-fire because "it's the best" according to many.
-- And last but not least, like SuicideGrl said, you're "not a cookie-cutter build", and you get to experience more than one aspect of the game.

there is a reason people do not like STR hybrids

the main one I can think of is damage and life.

Personally the point of a pure character is to have incredible damage. Pure str is strong physical damage with HP for tanking purposes
Pure int is strong magic damage with hgher damage then str usually
Since Pure ints have a strong damage output, sacrificing some damage for HP is ok because you can never have enoguh HP

However, with STR hybrids your sacrificing HP for what? Not much. The fact is, MP isnt important. Pots solve ANY problem with mp. the more mp you have means nothing. If you talking about damage, any if ANY damage increase is not worth the amount of life you'll end up sacrificng. You have invested in Physical damage if your using STR, why sacrfice what you have invested in for more magic damage?

Int hybrids work because they use range/nukes, but STR hybrids use melee physical damage for the most part.

And if your concerned with PVE, don't talk to anyone about a build. You can mess up however you want and still fair decently in PVE.

"your not a cookie cutter build" With only 2 stats, its hard to be original. At low levels, everyone levels quickly.

if your concerned with "a greater variety" than why do you care if people say STR glaive fire is the best? Its not like becuase you are a PURE str that you can't go ice, or lightning.

it's just that the lightning force has so much more appeal when you're not full strength, since piercing force is actually half-way good and you need the parry buffs more. I agree that mp isnt important, but high crits are, and if you can get a crit 14 spear for close to the price of a crit 6 glavie, well... strength hybrid can probably make a bit more use of that. And if you can save money, can't you get better equips to last longer? It seems to me that small differences in the build dont matter as much as say, having an SOS +7 instead of SOS +5

Thing is, PvE is pretty much nothing compared to PvP. You only PvE to get strong enough to PvP.

youre right. For everyone who is serious about the game and can realistically get to 6x and 7x easily it might not be the best choice. This thread is to address the majority of SRO players who can't make those high lvls :D

0o why paly if you don't play to win. Playing and getting owned by a 7x isnt even fun.

im just saying that the statistics are that very few people ever get to those lvls out of the number who play, so for them they probably shouldnt set their ideals to be a fully-farmed pure str blader  I see so many lvl 10s think theyre going to be the most powerful blader on the server.... Yeah, its not that fun, but getting in a good guild and helping your guildie beat a lvl 70 kinda is, and pve can be a fun part of the game too. Like killing uniques etc., except for the wait obviously.

Killing uniques is not what sro is about.
Let the lvl 10s think that....maybe they will.
Just like let the str hybrids take em to 70 and then get knocked around. It will be good for a laugh / cry post here on srf.

I think we already established, that not all play to just own other players, and yeah, I actually play just for the monsters. I barely have any time to play anyways, so when I get home from my 12 hr days I look forward to beating up some monsters, and talking with my guildies, and doing some trade runs as a reward for lvling or whatever. What makes me giggle in this game is alchemy, which is soo much fun.
