In September 2010, PayPal froze Notch's account due to "a suspicious withdrawal or deposit". At the time, Notch said there was about €600,000 in the account (about 750,000 US dollars).[18] As of September 12, 2010, the account has been unlocked.[19] Shortly after an update release on September 18, 2010, the Minecraft.net server went down due to the massive number of players trying to update their clients.[20][21] Notch responded by offering free offline playing until the issues are fixed.[22]

Looks like it's time to make video games!
That money in his account was only from like a week or two of people buying his game at 10 dollars. So he's probably made well over that... So if you can make a game that's worth at least 5-10 bucks, I'd say you'd have your life set for a while.
But with that money, update graphics engine please
then it will defeat the purpose of the game. All of those blocks at high lighting and stuff would be impossible for common folk, which means less cash for him. And it's mainly programmed in Java SOOOOOOOOOOOOO he'd have to make or change game engines. I think how he has it now is a good system for now

Just get another texture pack. I suggest this one here.
The orginial textures are 16x16 pixels the texture packs are usually 32x32 which makes it look a little better. (If you do go with this I'd also advice to use photoshop to brighten it up a little, and make new windows... I don't like the ones in it.)
Mhhhm, somehow after the chrash i have no more sound. I know new members should not have sound, but all my music / sounds files are still there.. so. Anyone else having this ?^^
No sound either, I played yesterday with sound so not sure whats up either.
Haxing TNT in your game is fun :]
I got my sound back, somehow it only seems to work when you disable your internet connection > start minecraft > click 'play offline option (when minecraft cant connect to the server) > enable internet > play with sound. I have no idea at all how having internet connection can make your sound disapear, but oh well...

Omfg...I found a hole with sand in it so I was like I'ma blow this up with a stack of tnt. Well it opened a cave system and it took me around 45mins to light up the whole thing. Then I was like no way I'll find my way out of here *looks up, hey I see the sky* hehe
The field outside my ´House´ with the huge-ass miningshaft I made(I believe it's 18x15).
Spoiler!
Let's take a look shall we? It goes all the way to the Bedrock which paves the bottom of the earth. This baby took me ~6-7 hours spread over 3 days, I believe. Everything is lit properly, so nothing can spawn inside. And, yes, it was made on Peaceful.
Spoiler!
A small look upwards, from halfway down the stairway, which was made with cobblestone steps. They're just so handy!
Spoiler!
My 'House'. It's more a cave carved into a mountain, but it's sporting everything I need. A few well-filled chest, and all organised and labeled. No crazy amounts, but I cont need any atm.
Spoiler!
2 abandoned miningshafts which are connected to my living. Making a miningshaft of such a sort is just so boring.
Spoiler!
And, finally.
Oh god, what did I start. As you can see, it's a mountain with a flattened top. To the left is my mining shaft. I had the fun idea of clearing out a complete(!!) mountain.
Spoiler!
A little hard to see, but around my cursos you can see a little trench I made to indicate how far I should clear out the mountain. I have no idea how sane I will be when I finish this, but it sure is a challenge!
Spoiler!
Now the question to you guys, what should I build on 'Ground Zero' what will remain when I finish? Keep in mind, no obsidian stuff, but I'll have plenty of supply on cobblestone/gravel/dirt!

Some historic thingy? like the guy in the vid a page back did? o.o He cleared out an area of like 192 by 192 blocks. That included a full forest and a mountain that he took down to water level.
