Wassup y'all!

I'm most likely going to buy a 12V splitter(http://www.amazon.com/Clear-Triple-Ciga ... B000SPGFUG) for in the car. Now I want two screens, so I'll need 2 holes of them. Now the hard part, I'll need an inverter to make the 12v go to whetever volt is needed for a tv, but can I use 2 inverters who are plugged into the splitter? Cause it'll need 24v right? Or can I just plug them both in?

PS: This was typed really fast so if you can't understand something please tell me

Not sure what you're asking, but I think I get it...

buying two small inverters plus the 12v adapter plugging in to your cigarette lighter = spending more for less. Plus you may blow your fuse off the cig lighter receptacle unless it's got a higher amperage rating.

I'd think more about something like this. may be overkill

If you have two screens that operate on a 12V power source, you won't need 24V because your screens are "wanting" to see 12V. The splitter looks like it just splits the circuit into two paths(see parallel circuits). The screens will draw however much current is necessary to operate(unless your fuse burns out, like E said).

I just found out I have no idea if the little screens which you place on the headrest even work with 12V cables. Do they? If yes, I won't need the inverters at all. But still, can the cigarette lighter handle this or should I get the thing Equal posted and connect this to the lighter first?

It would depend on whether the LCD screens can take a 12VDC input. Otherwise you're looking at an inverter with two plugs that converts 12V to AC power.

Even then you need to know how many amps/watts they would draw. Need more information about the screens.

Hmm I have no idea what screens I'm going to buy yet.
Most likely something like this:
http://www.epathchina.com/headrest-7-in ... -4406.html

EDIT: Hmm apparantly it doesn't give much info about the amp etc either.

If Screens need 12v you dont need 24, but you need more current; you can split but if battery is not charge or have low current wont work correctly

A Battery has more or less 1440 W

I'm really confused now. A Splitter makes one female port go to 2 or more female ports with the same 12v right?
If someone can give me the best scheme to make 2 tv's work in a car(by using the cigarette lighter) I would really appreciate that.

Google Ohm's law, it'll help you understand.
http://www.ajdesigner.com/phpohmslaw/oh ... urrent.php

P=E X I

where P is the power in watts, E is voltage, I is the amperage.

That basically limits how much you pull off the battery.

example
2 - 12 v tv's @ 10 amps = 120 watts, that's a big light bulb is all.

BUT
2 - 110 v TV's @ 10 amps = 1100 watts which is the power consumed by a big microwave.

Converting DC volts to AC volts requires an inverter at least and it's going to pull more power. So if you're going to put in screens, try to find some that use 12v power.

Just get someone to wire them into the car for you. No use using a cig port. And I think you are just confusing him Equal.

Quick Question.. What are you hooking them to?

Btw you dont need an inverter for the screens

This is weird. I am quite sure I posted this yesterday already.
Anyway, I don't want them build in the dashboard because I don't want to get distracted. They will be placed at the back of the headrests.
Also, I'm going to buy 2 12v tv's. That's for sure. But can I use a splitter and plug the 2 tv's just in there?
What I think a splitter is:

Also, I come to the thought of placing a ps2 in it. Any experience? :sohappy:

Yeah, sure can as long as the TV's don't draw too much current (amps). I've done a 3 way splitter with a cell phone charger, laptop to a power inverter for AC to charge and a little 12v fan.

heh, yep. Don't mind me, I'm not trying to confuse you, but if they're 12v LCD tv's, they are not likely to require too much power.

I haven't checked for awhile, depends on the car - each one can take a different amperage maximum. Probably 5 to 7 amps for most; on the new cars with a spare 12v socket maybe 9. I googled for some 12v TV's and see a lot that use 2-3 amps, so within the range for the majority of cigarette lighters.

Well my car is from '96. :D
And what if I want to place one tv and one ps2? I'll need an inverter, I just check the amp of the inverter and make sure the amps don't get higher then 5?

You dont need and inverter, car batteries are DC, so is the tv screen.

7 Watts/12 volts =.583 amps = 583 mAh or about one half amp.

You'll be DEFINITELY fine with 2 screens.

And with an PS2 on top? I'm sure this needs an inverter. :D

The PS2 needs an inverter. The screens, do not.

PS2 Fat use 79 watts/120 = .658 amps = 658 mah
PS2 Slim, 48 watts/120 = .4 amps = 400 mah.
