I had made a thread about driving manual, and it's not hard to learn really, just the timing takes practice and varys per vehicle. I currently drive auto, but that just because it's my car. I also have a civic which is a 5 speed manual and it's really fun to drive imo, and is better on gas
So in the run of this, go ahead do it, watch some youtube videos for starts and go from there
Also, I like manual better, but Auto is obviously easier....you put it in (D4 or either D) and your off, it can almost as simple as that. And I don't have to use my emergency brake on a hill (aka PARK) so auto is by far easier. One big is with auto though.....it has allowed more women on the road
I don't get why people complain and moan about how manual is hard to drive! 1hr of driving = 70 calories 1hr of biking = 600 calories burned
Any auto driver that can't drive manual is just too lazy, its so simple and like fiction said, after 1 month of non stop driving manual, its a second nature. Everyone who says auto is easier, its bullshit, honestly annoys me when people say that its hard going up hills and stuff, I can say from experience that its not. Just get the timing right, and so what if your wheels spin a little? Been driving manual ever since I learned to drive, never drove automatic, unless driving a friend's car, and its annoying for me because im always looking for the clutch, and trying to switch gears...
tl:dr, manual car = real car people who drive automatic = too fucking lazy to drive manual when its not hard at all
apparently your an idiot if you don't know how to use manual. Its kind of like how one guy thinks spending $2000 on car rims is worth it while the guy next to him is happy that his car takes him from A to B.

Auto is easier because it does the shifting for you. Unless I'm missing something.

GL with a phone call in traffic. I don't do the Ear -> phone -> shoulder shit.
having a manual car when nobody in your house can drive manual and then having a heart attack and dying because nobody can get you to the hospital in time is also one of my goals in life
Was wondering who would use the "real man drive manual" argument, guess Master_Of_Puppets did. You're already lazy enough for driving a car, might aswell get freaking automatic. I'm studying for my Learners and the manual stick section made me cry .
I thought that manual is also safer when it comes to sliding situations. When you for example start sliding on water or ice/snow just push the clutch down you cut all the power going to the wheels. But when you use auto you have always 1000 rpm on the wheels unless you switch on the neutral gear which is not easy when you are sliding on high speed.

Just a thought. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Nah.. you should never push the clutch down, especially if your losing control. Completely takes out all control then.
And EvGa.. being on the phone while driving is illegal in the UK. Too many women ran people over.

Not really. I don't have traction control in my car so it's up to me if the car keeps steady or not.

your losing control on the ice you should always down shift insted of cutting power the car will then gradually slow down once in a lower gear which helps you regain control
afaik auto cant do that not in the same way
if you dont know what im on about manual drivers on a quite road and your in 3rd keeping the same speed shift down to 1st and see what happens

Bang.
no you slow down as the gear you shifted into is a lower gear and cant go as fast
Still, high speed - low gear isnt good for the transmission at all. If you'dd want to break on the engine you'dd usualy shift down gear by gear. Driving 50-60 and putting it in the first gear wouldn't be good.

well im learning so not tried 3rd to 1st but the point is good or bad its the best way to regain control on the ice though prolly better doing it your way prolly

yep, you could always use engine brake in emergency situations. and also when you are at high speed, its not possible to shift down from 5th-1st gear cuz there is a certain speed limit of each gears... its a safety defense so that you would not break your engine.
