Alot of those can be solved by learning them to ride a bike properly. Helmets are really useful but I do think learning your kids how to ride is more important. Helmet is just an extra safety feature after that, I mean it's not like I'll let my kids ride without a helmet later.

What's so horrific to have an "extra" safety on your kids?
Well, the kids can learn to ride a bike.. At same time have a helmet on? Easy!

Never said they couldn't, I just didn't agree on the fact you called the helmet more important than proper training at first =p
