I'm going to Graduate School for a Ph.D. I'm thinking of getting a new car to help move stuff as well as have a comfy drive.
I am currently looking at a Scion and a Kia, but open to other ones if you can introduce them to me.
I'm looking for box-type cars. Not the huge ones like the Honda Element though. Smaller like the Kia Soul.
Basically I'm looking for something that's about the size of a sedan or mini suv, but is still fun to drive.
I'm not racing in this car so it doesn't need much power. If it can go along the highway and not rattle like my civic I'll be happy.
So far:
Kia Soul Scion XB
I want the box-type since it has a lot more space and comfy spacing interior. I want to be able to move all my shit without 5+ trips as is my current situation with my Honda Civic.

Rav4 is a bit too big. I was originally going to get a Honda CR-V, but since I wrecked my dad's car... i got a shitty civic instead. I didn't really like it though. I'm not looking for a soccer mom type car.
Roomy but compact if you get my drift.
I am srsly considering the soul, but I've heard the engine is really bad. I don't mind a car that can't accelerate, I've had to deal with the civic all through college. I just don't want one where the car moans going uphill and won't be able to drive on the highway without feeling like it will explode. If someone knows someone that has driven the soul please let me know how it handles at speeds over 80 mph.

I recommend the Hyundai Elantra SLX. I bought one myself, '10 model and I'm not regretting it at all. It's a pretty small car, much smaller than my Mitsubishi Magna Executive yet it still doesn't feel too squishy in the back seat. I bought mine for $20,000 brand new, although it was a demo model so I got a pretty good discount on it. Although that cost included al lthe extras, spoiler, alloys etc etc.

If you were driving a Kia Soul in the UK everyone would think you were gay or over 75.

Swift looks interesting. I'll go see if there's one around me to test drive laster this week. Kinda reminds me of a PT cruiser in shape.

If you don't care about what type of looks you will have driving a car (based on previous cars mentioned) get a van, like a dodge caravan, or nissan quest, toyota siena, ford freestyle lots of space, comfy.
Now if you care about the looks, get something like a Mazda 3 hatchback or a golf. People tend to under estimate the space in a hatchback car...

GOSEKI ON THE WAY HOME FROM COLLEGE I SAW THE BEST! Im dead serious too, no troll. Mazda B4000 Ford Ranger You need to move stuff, which you got plenty of space. Not too much fuel consumption, because of small engine Downside, you need to move on a sunny day, or cover your stuff up pretty good... As for driving quality I highly doubt its good, but I never went in one so I can't say for sure!
