BlackFox tried to make a thread about this, but JB kidnapped it.
When BlackFox made that thread I wasn't really thinking about it, but this sh!t is getting ridiculous. In Holland gasprices now reached a new record. We have to pay EUR 1,70 for a liter now, the highest price in Dutch history. That's like 9 dollar a gallon. I really can't see the reason for this sudden and dramatic change. Everyone is talking about the problems in Libya, but the situation in Libya couldn't possible had such a dramatic effect as the country is only responsible for 2% (give or take a percent) of the total global oil production.
Some people out there are making big money while we pay the f*cking bill. A full tank now f*cking costs me 70 euros, as if sh!t isn't expensive enough already. The oil market really needs a change, it's way too easy to manipulate it. A mere rumor nowadays is enough to rise the oil prices.

i can fill the tank of my old 1980 toyota starlet with 15$ more or less... 82 octane 'extra' costs about 1.5X$ per gallon and 92 octane 'super' at about 2.1X$ per gallon

Regular here is about $3.75 per gallon.
It sucks. Especially because I have to make a 20 minute drive to and from work every day. Eats up my gas.

prices in montreal went from 1.17$ a liter to 1.35$
Another factor that they use to screw us over is that, the petrol we are buying now from the gas stations have been bought 3 - 6months ago... when there wasn't any crisis....

Heard it was a lot more than 2%, but not sure what's the true percentage. Either way it sucks. Luckily I can go to work by bike, and stores and stuff are relatively close by, so I will simply give my car some time off lol. I still have half a tank in case I do need the car, but I'll be fine for now. Really glad I have a car that requires little fuel compared to the distance it drives.

The cheapest prices here in Calgary are around the 106.9¢/L range, the most expensive is 118.9¢/L range. Luckily I know where to get cheap gas around like 70-80¢/L.

It's hovering around 121.7¢/L in Ottawa, it's ridiculous. Just a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't fill up my gas until it was at the cheapest point in the week (113.4¢/L) I drive a '98 Corolla and right now it takes me around 50$ to fill up my tank as much as it can take. It only took me around 35$ in the summer (80-90¢/L).

But sooner or later there will be riots, we are too accustomed to cars to just start walking or using public transportation, at least here in the US.

We had this discussion earlier at work today, actually. I've noticed a small increase where I normally fill up, petrol has gone from a constant $1.24/L to $1.36/L. An increase, sure, but it's still reasonable. My car averages 6.5-7L per 100kms, so I can afford it easily enough. Although in other areas (more so in the city and in more suburban towns) I've seen the prices at around $1.45/L up to $1.50/L.
What really confuses me, though, is the price difference between nations. 80c/L in some parts, $1.70/L (in your weird Euro things) elsewhere. That's what truly amazes me to be honest.
At the peak of the financial crises when oil prices went like crazy I was paying $1.80/L for petrol and I had no choice but to pay it, considering there's a very limited amount of public transport where I live and it doesn't go to my place of work. Until it gets that high again, I won't complain too much.

I haven't noticed the gas prices all too much. It has been a week sense I last filled up and I'm around 3/4 of a tank.

The fuel station I pass by on my way to work mentioned EUR 1,65. Not sure about those self service things, they tend to be cheaper.
Either way, my car's grounded. I just got my very first speeding ticket in the mail. OvO If any of you guys happen to live in Putten, destroy some of those stupid camera things please.

Pff, gas prices have been higher people, it's not the first time and it's not the last.
I remember paying $4.15 a gallon in the Midwest and California coworkers told me $4.50 per gallon.
Public transportation depends on the city. At least here in Minneapolis area, 35% of people take the bus. The problem has been extremely high crime rates on some routes lately.
I want them to get the light rail closer to my house! It's a 15 minute shot to downtown, $1.75 one way. Much cheaper than filling up gas on my truck each week for $53/week, and less wear and tear.
Bus is $1.25 one-way or higher I think.

It has never been this high in the UK. Sorry, thought you were in the US. Obama's having a trickle-down effect?
