okay your answer will help me in deciding what would be good for me to say or not. I know I should talk about my self instead of what others tell me to say. And i will say the truth about me. But by your answers i will know what i can decide to say about my self that will help me do good. Okay imagine your self applying for a job in a location that they want out going people. For example Best buy. What do you say about self when they ask you " tell me about your self ". ? Do you say the professional side of you? or the outgoing side of you ? Like i love going to the beach , party .. blah blah ?

you lie. say your a hardworker. say stuff that makes you look good for work. your pretty much selling yourself to them
examples: your good with people. hard working. you are knowledgeable in what they are selling and so on

I have an aviation career/school. Basically when i applied to best buy by me telling them this part of my life I THINK it made them think im too smart to work there or something. Some people have actually said that as well.
Reason why im asking this is because even though is not best buy , i just dont want to make my self seem over qualified or bellow qualified.

Your confidence will talk for you in a job interview. Think about this: How would you describe yourself in a few words? Remember that partying, the beach, etc. are just a part of your life and not your entire life (i assume). In a job interview you're selling a product, which is yourself, so you have to think a bit about how can you show them you're the best of all the interviewed.

LoL They aren't looking to find out your night life with that generic question... they aren't trying to find out if you are a unique soul, and they aren't trying to find out how cool you are. They want to hear that generic answer, "I'm a punctual, quick learning, hardworking, self starting person."
I doubt Best Buy would turn someone down for being over qualified. Most chain stores don't care about that. Managers just want someone that they can rely on to get the job done and not have any problems doing it. You aren't gonna have to worry about being over qualified for much until you've got a few degrees and a lot more experience.
My tip: Wear a suit!(If you're female, don't wear those big sunglasses in the store...) Also its better to go back to the store to check up on your app instead of call.

He speaks the truth, only I'd change a few things. A suit is a bit too formal. Maybe a shirt, dress pants, and tie. Be confident with your answers. Like people have said, tell them what they want to hear. Promote yourself as a hard working, dedicated individual. A good tip is to pretend to have an interest in what they do. Ask them a question about how they operate or what sort of things the job would entail. It makes you seem interested and you'll also get some good information out of it. If possible, try and relate something you do to what would be asked of you at this job. The question that kills people in interviews is usually "What is one of your weaknesses" It's a trick question usually because if you say a legitimate weakness, they're going to notice. Try and answer with something like "I find that often times, I'm too precise with what I do." Or say something like "Well my Spanish(or whatever secondary language is big where you'll be working) isn't as good as it can be and I'd like to improve on that to get a better connection with customers." tl;dr Be cheesy, but not too cheesy.

In every interview they ask you for you weaknesses. The "tell me about yourself" is a really open question. I always use it to get rid of the weakness question and spin it into good.
I normally say that i'm a very passionate individual, accomplishing goals and being involved in my work drives me to succeed. When I am passionate, the quality of my work improves tremendously. Then I say something about that also being my weakness, that the drive to succeed turns me into a perfectionist.
It's also a great time to talk about how much you appreciate the company and want to work for them. In my last interview I mentioned that I was very proud and excited to work for the company because of their brand recognition, corporate culture, and the important role they play in local affairs (donations, volunteer, sponsorship, etc.).

Just how you are on everyday. It's kind a random question. Some interviewers may ask specifically on how you are overall (so you could easily get used on the job) or in the professional way (how good will you perform your duties).

Just when i needed some advise for last night's interview, this shows up. I farked up so hard at my interview, even thought i was given with positive comments and will under go training by next week, I still feel disappointed about myself to show 100% of my full potential. Also, it was stressful, i just tend to smile a lot, to cover my self disappointment. Job interview = success me inside = I could have done better

Tell them you've never been in prison, never done drugs, don't like casual public sex... you know, that kind of stuff.
TL;DR - Lie.

fuuuck.. are people really this cheesy in interviews?
only ever had 1 interview. it consisted of "are you happy working these days?", "are you happy doing these tasks?","when can you start?".
saying that.. it was a job in a pub.

relax dude, just be yourself. you're applying at BestBuy for a rather simple position, not at a bank for a senior position.

Soft questions like that are mostly testing your ability to effectively communicate with others and how much time and preparation you put in for the interview, the emphasis isn't on what you say but how well you say it. Just don't stare at your feet and stutter through every word or focus so hard on trying to recite your rehearsed lines word of word that you rush through it.

Just try to be cool, say you've done drugs a couple times, nothing regular though... say you have crazy sex adventures once in a while with hot models; you know, the general stuff that makes a dude cool.

Tell him your good sides and then and why you think you're the right man for the job.
