What does the first amendment have to do with this? If you've ever owned a home you'd know that the city owns anything between the street and the sidewalk.
This is kinda funny at the end... I don't get wtf they're taking all the basketball goals but it is Delaware after all. It's not really apart of the United States.

It's the first state!
By first amendment I mean the "you don't be saying anything even though you're standing on your own property."
I'd have raged.

He is, but he isn't. Eminent domain, right of easement, etc, etc. But I suppose he could talk shit all he wanted, he just can't prevent her from doing her job.

You got de pun.
Anyways, I'd be raging too... Getting real old the shit the cities try to put on us home owners... I drive through my town and there are houses that are abandoned and look like a hazard to who ever the hell would go into them...( I don't really give a shit, I mind my own business, so I'm not gonna go crying to the council about them.) but my Farking grass at my rental property can get over 6 inches long and I get the city on my ass...
Sadly owning your own land does not give you the right to do with it as you wish........................ .... ... best part though.... The city can come **** your shit up and you have to fix it yourself or deal with it.......
Its because Deleware has some law where tree's, poles, and basketball hoops can't be withing 7 feet of the curb or street. One of the neighbors complained and the city came and took all the hoops.

is there a reason for this law? b4 people start making stupid comments about how the law is useless.. unless it really is useless
More than likely the reason for the law is because too many drunk drivers would park their cars around the poles mistaking them for their driveway. -Common mistake to make if you're drunk, really.
Also when did lying to someone's face become against the law? You just can't lie to police or federal agents, but they can lie to you.
I didn't realize (till the end) that the poles where planted. The city has the right to remove them if they're planted on the city's property but I don't think they have the right to take the dam thing. Must be a special kind of hater to complain about something such as this.
When I see shit like this I wonder if those watchdogs that call themselves police think that it's retarded but are bound by duty to carry it out. I'd be driving around to where these cops live just see if their kids are playing basketball on polls planted on the lawn in front of their house.

I read the article and it said that the people losing the hoops have to pay, so they are taking them away, basically like towing, and the owners can go pay for them and get them back.

Honestly, from the conversations that went on in that video, I feel like people would pay and get them back, JUST to have the city take them away again. Seems corrupt like that.
