Has anyone ever been to one? I went the other day with a friend and heard some scary shit. We could hear birds but we couldnt see them. Couple minutes later we saw a dead bird with it's head chopped off and it looked pretty fresh too so we got the fck out of there lol. This was during the day mind you, dont think i would ever go during the night.
So if anyone has some stories about places like these, please share them. Im interested to hear what some of you have experienced.

i eat birds heads all the time dude... must have just come across ma left overs, notin new der. ... but if you were there in the night i probably would have mistaken you for a bird and chewed your head off.. sorry bout that
it's all up to you, if you're scared you're going to find some ''mysterious'' signs and shit, but if you don't give a sh!t, then nothing will happen. we have a huge abondoned crematory here and it's known for all the weird shit that happened there. been there couple of times with some friends and we didn't notice sh!t. some other people went there and claimed to have seen ghosts. it depends on wheter you're sensitive for sh!t like this or not.

I've been to one, knowing all the scary stories about them, and the best part is, it was abandoned for it's cruel and unusal methods, and such. It's on top of a hill behind a hidden driveway. Though I'm not a person to afraid of things of the sort I still found it interesting to know the stories of some of the patients that were supposdly true.

Please take your pathetic attempts at being funny and post them elsewhere. Good to see at least 1 serious response.
There is this abandoned office complex near where i live, people go there during the day to play games, football basketball and make out. Went once during the night...and it was rather scary, but at the end of the day its just your mind playing tricks on you the whole "fight/flight" responce

I started Urban Exploring in early 2008 after reading an article about it. Basically, you visit abandoned buildings and sites, and take pictures. You cannot take anything with you, or move items around, even if it would make a better picture. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.
Spoiler!
When I started, I was mostly concerned about my physical well being. There's often glass scattered around, not to mention wooden floors and stairs have the amazing ability to look strong while they are rotten to their core. I made sure people knew where I was, and I always brought someone with me so we could look after each other.
Stepping into a building where no one has been for years is bizarre, no sturdy shoes and thick coats can protect you from that atmosphere. Time there has stood still, while the rest of the world moved on. I've visited all kinds of places. Industrial sites, like brick factories and slaughter houses, but also swimming pools, shipyards and abandoned houses. Humans had been long gone, but you still see traces of them. In a factory, a man left a pair of shoes there. There was a still sealed bottle of water in a dust covered fridge, work schedules. Someone left a doll in an abandoned kindergarten. Throughout decades, maintenance workers would carve their name into the old ladder of the clock tower. In Germany, I found an abandoned mansion, which still had most of its furniture. A newspaper laid open on the table, accompanied by a now empty coffee mug. Laundry was hanging in the hall, flowers - now dead - in vases. If it wasn't for the decay and dust, I could have expected the owners to come home any moment. I stood in the morgue of an abandoned hospital. I even found myself in a crypt, once. Did anything super natural happen? No. But I can't say I liked being there, either.

I think the state of mind has a lot, if not everything to do with it. If you are somehow expecting something to happen, you will start hearing things or seeing things in the corner of your eye. In such a place as an abandoned building, it's easy to let your mind run wild. Don't let it. That's all there is to it. Films and books made a mental institute a horrible place. But in the end, they tried and still try to help people there. Their methods weren't all that pleasant, and some of them turned out not to have the desired effect, but in the end, they were trying to help the patients.

The first image in the first spoiler would have been a goldmine if that was coke. On a serious note though, would you mind sharing more pictures. On another forum I visit, a guy found a abandoned house where there was open coffins with the corpses still in there. If someone wants the pictures, I can send you a link through PM, I dont wanna post them here since they are rather disgusting.
Do you need to obtain some kind of permit to enter those places or you just "broke in"? I wanted to take some stills around Long Island City factories but most of them are locked - even the 'abandoned' ones. It's so much hard to get access into these locations in the city.

If it was coke, the place wouldn't be out of business LOL. I dug up a few others, but out of 100 photo's there are 5 that I deem good enough, and these didn't quite make it. I had tons more, but some asshat who was supposed to repair my computer wiped my HDD instead and I lost them all.
And wtf, was that a normal residential house?! Don't expect a PM from me.
Spoiler!
First two pictures are from an abandoned mansion. With the windows intact and good locks on the doors, I was unable to let myself in. The other pictures show an abandoned ship, and carts that were near one of the brick factories I visited. Inside the clocktower, was made last Friday. Second and third picture were taken inside an abandoned farm, and the most right picture is also from the brick factory, taken near the oven. First two pictures are made at the brick factory, 2nd is looking out on an office. The other two at the clock tower. Nearly all the clock tower pictures are ruined, because 1) it was pitch black so I was just shooting away and taking advantage of the flash to see where I was and 2) it was nearly 3:30 PM then, and I happened to stand at the level where all 20~30 clocks were. Clocks strike each half an hour. (Luckily I managed to find ear protectors JUST before hell broke lose wtf) 1) The only picture I've ever taken at a graveyard. 2) One of the two bigger bells in the clock tower. This was the only one that was decorated. 3) Rows of smaller bells. 4) Small shed near the white mansion. The image of the dust covered cubboard in my previous post was taken there. 1) Brick factory, a drawer in the office. 2) The decorated bell in the tower. 3) One level above the bells, also in clock tower. All brick factory. The first picture was taken outside, piled cart wheels. 1) Ship 2) Moar bells 3) Shed near white mansion, again.

To be honest, out of all buildings I've visited, there were only 2 of them I entered by a key. And that was last week only lol. Empty buildings are sealed, and I happened to work together with the man who had access to all the keys of the buildings in the town, so last week I could come with one of the carpenters as he had to fix a window some hooligans broke, and I could take all the pictures I wanted, and as extra bonus, the man knew a lot about the buildings as well. However, I highly doubt they would do the same thing for strangers.
That, and you have a risk that whoever comes with you is going to breathe down your neck constantly to make sure you aren't breaking stuff or anything. I prefer just allowing myself entrance to the building. Most of the time, doors are so rotten you can just push them open, and windows are often broken. Just be careful where you put your feet or hands if you climb in through a window or something, and make sure some people know where you are. I also highly recommend you do not go alone, you can watch out for each other, and help one another if needed. Besides that, it's a lot of fun to compare photo's.
Sometimes people live close by and they will notice you, but if you tell them you're only taking pictures and then leave, they're usually okay with it. Same with the cops if you happen to stumble upon one. Entering sealed buildings is forbidden by law, and at first they will suspect you to be a copper thief or a hooligan. Show them the camera with the pictures, and you have a decent chance that they will only tell you to go away and leave it at that.
It's a bit tricky trying to break into buildings and trespass into city property. I wanted to go down into the train tracks around that area to take some photos from ground level. The most I've done was climb up the bridge fence to get a clearer view. And one fail attempt to break into 5 Pointz's rooftop a few years ago. LIC (NY) still has remnants of its industrial past but that's slowly going away as these new condo buildings are being built left and right. I want to take advantage of the place while it still exists. I'll do a lot of scouting after I pass my board exams this summer. Hopefully travel to other states as well =)
Love the shots. Especially the one on the far right.

Yeah, it was a normal house, how ever there haven't been living anyone there for years. But it still got a owner and some of the guys from the forum called him and told him to take care of it but so far nothing have happened and that was almost 2-3 years ago, the house still getting visited by people, the location got leaked sadly and some people have raided the place and cracked the skulls and shit like that.
I'm reading the first post now and there is 13 coffins in the livingroom, 3 of them are for children. Picture of the coffins in the spoiler, nothing disgusting in it, just shows that it is real.
Most of the stuff is in your head... but my head is fcked up from being scared the shzz in my childhood >.>; ( Walking during night in a huge haunted mansion )
