Interesting responses I see here. Calling the questions retarded though is like calling yourselves retarded because indeed if such a situation were to happen we'd be asking those exact questions in one form or another due to our basic and primitive intelect brought on by the limited understanding we have of oursleves.

Even when you realize that a few of the questions can indirectly answer some of the other question we'd still find ourselves asking them anyways because thats just how we are as human. We just have to know.

Or maybe, and let's go ahead and imply this now, you aren't that bright yourself and could be described as one of those soulless drones, maybe the depth of these questions in your eyes come from your poor education and lack of ability to see the relevance of the questions. When you say we have a limited understanding of ourselves you speak for yourself because understanding of ourselves is not something that every man lacks today: blah blah don't generalize based on how faulty you are and learn to use "I x ".

Love.... neither you nor I have any concrete understandings of ourselves as humans. Not when we have no other references other than what is "placed" in front of us. We use what we see hear touch smell etc to try and make sense of things and think we do understand but how can we? how can we when we ourselves never design those senses. And by that token it makes us all limited..."not that bright"..."soulless drones"....You need to wake up and stop acting like you got any clue whatsoever. Because you don't... none of us does..

If you ever stop to use your brain you'd realize that your life as well as mines is spent recycling those 6 questions (and more). Everyday you wake up you asked those same questions. From the moment you turn on your TV or your PC or start your day outside to work or school your asking those questions. Our questioning nature is reflecting of how limited we are.

Is there an option where we can choose to simply ignore the "all knowing being" and walk away?

In all honesty I don't want someone to tell me why I'm here, or how I got here or what the purpose for my existence is. No, I want to discover the answer to these questions myself. I don't want to spend my life being spoon-fed answers about the "fate" of my life or why the hell I should go on each day. I believe my life is an exploration of itself; I'll shape my own sense of meaning and purpose based on what I believe to be just and true. The opinions of some wise old being don't affect me at all. Just because his words may be true and accurate, it doesn't mean they are right for me.

Very interesting MrTwiggles...I like it..It's possible by that belief that the nature of our existence is unknowable since we have the ability to deny all other notions (even the real one) and substitute it with our own.

Honestly, i think our existence is nothing compared to the big picture. I mean, we are only 1 planet out of.. "insert large number". We are just a species that will be wiped out one day and forgotten in the next.

Who said aliens are going to be responsible for us getting wiped out?

Not sure how you arrived at that conclusion, or that you know what it means, but whatever tickles your erogenous zone.

btw, I'd like to know one more thing. Do you act the same way in real life as you do on this forum? So when someone asks you a question in real life, do you always give them a scientific speech?

Give me substance and I'll gladly return the gesture. Contrary to your implied belief, I'm not that smart. You're just more ignorant.

I'm not sure how I should react to that since I don't watch the show, so I guess I'm flattered that you think of me outside SRF.

@BuDo
Your posts in this thread are filled with assumptions and presuppositions and this last one is no different. Taking your six questions, for example, you can see this more clearly:

Quote:
Who: As in who (or what) is responsible for our existence [Implies someone or something is taking responsibility for our existence]

What: As in what are we exactly. Are we what we think we are?

Where: As in where are we...Just where exactly are we

When: As in when were we made [Implies we were "made"]

Why: As in whats the reason [Implies a reason should exist]

How: As in how was it done [Reaching a little, but could imply there was a straightforward process to "it"]

That whole paragraph is a giant assumption. It assumes that everyone is as curious about their existence as you, and that using your brain means asking yourself those questions. There are many people who do ponder their existence all the time, but there also those who simply could not care less about these things.

Again, you're presupposing a "real one" must exist and we have the ability to deny it and substitute it.

If they are the same, then they are all right, so that resolves that dilemma. If they are different, then one religion is right. Conundrum solved?

lol you're kinda an idiot aren't you? Maybe you should at least learn a little bit before you go "generalizing" all of man kind's religions into the same lump sum... oh man I'm not even gonna explain the whole thing with religions.. all I can do is :palm: :palm: :palm:

I feel like you are misunderstanding what I am saying. I am saying that if we asked "Who" and a creator (or lack thereof) was told to us, we could define who was right and wrong. For instance if it was the Jewish god then we say the Jewish people are right, and so on. Are you arguing that if the Who was just responded as a god, then we wouldn't know? If that were so, I agree, however I believe the answer to who would be more specific.

I'm saying the Jews/Catholics/Protestants/Muslims and such pretty much believe in the same God, but it's the details in each religion that define right or wrong. Also there are many branches off each of these religions as well. That's not even counting all the other major religions either. lol we argue over a theoretical question that we'll never actually have to worry about.

That by which you seem so fascinated by are crippled thoughts of an abused child, I'll leave it at that.

strangelove has already provided an appropriate response to this other than that.
