Heard this on the radio this morning, since Bin laden is dead, they asked where and what were you doing when 9/11 happened?
As for me, I was 8 years old, I lived in dubai back then, so when it happened it was +8 for the time zone. My mom was going about cooking dinner, when we received a phone call from our neighbour screaming in the phone telling us to go switch to the news channel. At first my mom thought it was fake, who would think that is real? Then she realized it was real...
My dad is a pilot, and he was away on a flight, and even if this happened in NY it didn't stop us to worry greatly about him... Very troubling memory, my mom was crying, (very emotional for that stuff) and even though I was just a little 8 years old boy, I remember it like if it was yesterday...
So now I ask you, where and what were you doing, if you remember?

I remember it pretty clearly actually. It was just after I woke up for school, I walked into the living room and saw it on TV. I was 11 at the time so I understood what was happening, but I didn't understand the magnitude of it.
I went to school and we had a substitute teacher and he had the news on in the classroom. Then they showed one of the planes hitting the tower and he started crying and it was just a quiet day from there. No one really talked or said anything. We all just sat and worked with the TV playing in the background.

Was about 8 years old. The day before it happened we flew to Greece. So the only thing we saw on the tv screens there was the planes that flew in to the wtc. Since i was little and barely understood English i didn't really know what happened until later.

It's amazing really how people remember this although it happened 10 years ago (already?) It's breath taking..
Memories that are associated with the event. Such as, being allowed to enter the cockpit. (afaik they don't let passengers to that anymore) Wondering why they only showed the same footage of the planes over and over again. And just simply because we had a vacation at the same time.

I know it sucks not being allowed in the cockpit anymore, I have plenty of pictures when I was younger, of me in the cockpit, and I even went down under the cockpit where all the radio equipment is (bet you 5/6 of the people in this world dunno there is a hatch in the cockpit) Hahaha, Even got to sit in the jumpseat for take off and landing! ha! (having a dad pilot is beast lemme tell you that for a fact!)
I would have loved to be able to go in a jumpseat now and take some amateur video footage of landings and takeoffs, hearing all the ai sounds and the pilots at work is insane!
Must've been about 7-8... I remember my mother was acting a bit concerned, when I came home during the midday break. I only knew what happened when school was really over. I didn't care at all... I was in my retarded 'destruction is awesome' phase, so I was like woopie-woohoo -__- thankfully that phase blew over quickly

I was 7, 11 days before my birthday. I was in school, right after it happened or as it was happening, our principal made an announcement on the PA explaining what had happened, and we had a moment of silence. Being ignorant kids we were, we all looked at our Arabic friend and wondered if it was his people that had did it. When I got home that day, my mom was home constantly watching the news and told me to watch it with her, and she asked me if I understood what was happening.

I was in school. I remember they called us all down to the gym/auditorium whatever and talked to us about what happened. Was 8 years old at the time and they weren't very explicit as to what happened so I didn't really care. Don't think I really paid any attention to it until later on in my life..

I remember very clear, i was about 8 as wel, my dad had taken off the day before for a business meeting in NY. My mother was watching the TV when i came in and she was crying, i thought something had happened to her or to my dad, but she was just hysterically calling and not letting me know what happend. My sister, who is older than me, told me a plane hit WTC and then i watched on TV when the second also hit the WTC. After that i knew something could be wrong with my dad. But luckily after 10 min we got a fax in saying that all was alright and that he was on the other side of NY
And when the bombings happened in London my mom was supposed to take that one underground that exploded but she decided to take a taxi because a smelly guy kept going behind her... i guess thank you smelly guy XD

well, "when 9/11 happened" i was 17 i had just gotten to work at radioshack and turned on the tv sets for the day and saw tower 1 burning, minutes later, saw tower 2 get hit. so i was at work "when 9/11 happened." btw, saying "when 9/11 happened" is so hlibilly sounding. perhaps, when the world trade center collapsed or during the terror attacks of 9/11 since other places in penn. and dc were struck too.

Walked in to 7th grade art class and saw a cloud of smoke on the TV screen. thought we were watching a forest fire or something, then the second plane hit. The rest of the day was spent huddled around a TV in all of my classes.
