I don't know about that. I am not a microsoft fan or anything but what they are doing will work well with tablets. Main thing I hate about tablets as of right now is the lack of a file system. It is basicly all apps.
I like that you can switch to a normal looking desktop. It might still look like windows 7 but hey. This is kinda a major reason why I dislike tablets.
I messed with android a bit in a virtual computer but it seems simular to iOS. I have an ipod touch and like I said it is basiclly all apps. I like to browse the file system compared to icons of apps.
If they release a beta I will no doubt put it on my netbook. It seems it might work on a netbook too from the looks. Infact I will even post my review of windows 8 when they release a beta.

I get that it will work well on tablet computers. Unfortunately, he was talking about PC's. This is NOT the type of crap you want on your PC. It's pretty much blatantly copying apple. I cannot imagine why anyone would ever wanna copy anything of apple's. At least don't make the apps the f*cking start up screen D:. just make them a menu summon with hotkeys or something.

It wasn't mentioned here but has been said in other sources that windows 8 would be geared more to tablets.
How is it copying apple? Android copies apple more then windows 8......

now.. u may be right... but apple are quite well known for copying people....
"Hai im Steve Jobs and selling a open sourced UNIX code whilst branding it under MAC OS KERNAL was my idea."
but then again... every1 knows mr bill gatez stole his idea at college from another guy too =) (but... i think the other guy was a senior worker at microsoft.. so he didnt really lose out... when u have over 10 billion dollars its not like amounts of money really matter...)
I just realized, MS fails on a regular frequency XD w95,w98,w2000,XP,vista,w7,w8
Makes no sense.....
Windows 3.0: did well. Windows NT 3.0: not so well. Windows 95: did alright. Windows NT 4.0: did a lot better then 3.0. Windows 98: Did a little better then 95. Windows ME: Didn't turn out so well. Windows 2000: Did really well compared to all versions of windows out at the time. Windows XP: Not so well. Windows XP SP2/3: A ton better then when XP was first released. Windows Vista: Same as XP. Windows Vista SP1/2: A lot better then it's released version. Windows 7 (Vista 2.0): So far it has been the most stable.
The trend is they release the OS it has bugs then they fix them. The Windows OS isn't open sourced they can't get the large base of testers that unix and Linux can. MacOS is basically unix.
Also don't even try to change my comment on XP. We all know it was buggy when it was first released.
BREAKING NEWS: Microsoft discovers RainMeter skins
Kidding aside, that's certainly an interesting direction to take for the new Windows version, though I'm not totally convinced it would work well without any special multi-touch surface akin to Apple's Magic Trackpad. The Metro UI is the ideal solution for them to use on phones and tablets (large, easily-accessible tiles for touching), but it seems like a rushed solution to integrate into the desktop environment. I can only speculate how it would function for now, but it just strikes me as the type of resource-hogging feature that power users are going to disable anyway. Seems too impractical and gimmicky to be used in any serious way, though I'd be willing to try it and be proven wrong.
