When I'm not dieting down, yes. When I'm in a cut I don't like the water bloat from creatine.

Ah okay, So whats the difference between Creatine Mono vs Creatine Hydro? Just wondering which one is better cause I got Amplified Creatine.

what do you do for work outs? cause i jsut stick to crunches for abs, squats for legs, and bench for arms.

Dino, you should read my reply to Blackdragon...

Fliip, monohydrate versus ethyl ester? Chemical makeup obviously, but I haven't done much reading on which is 'better'. I use micronized monohydrate.

The main purpose of bench is Chest. If you want better arm development you might want to move to curls or something. Don't take this as bench won't give you bigger arms its just more efficient to do curls.

Arnt Curls pretty much only Biceps? IMO triceps and delts are much more important, esp. if you are doing it for sports. Close hand bench would be better for triceps though

Both will get the job done. Mono is cheaper, Ethyl is more expensive but chemically they're more or less the same substance only ethyl will in theory be more easily absorbed into the body so in theory you'd need less of it but really between the two and even creatine in general your results will differ greatly depending on your own body. Which isn't to say that they don't work. In most cases they do but which one is better depends completely on you. Mono is tried and true whereas ethyl is the new kid on the block.

If i were you i'd stick with mono because there's no reason not to but theres no harm in trying out ethyl for a couple weeks to see what kind of results you'll get. They could be better, worse, or the same. But it will probably be more expensive.

Yea, but curls is just an example. You shouldn't only be doing curls you should assign each muscle group 2-3 exercises. Some people just do upper body and lower body days so they focus more on compound lifts, rather than exercises that specifically target arms/chest/legs.

Sat fats are good for you now apparently. Or at least not as bad? I can't really say i've looked into the new findings with any seriousness but i know that sat fats are at least OK now lol.

Trans Fat and Saturated fat are NOT good. There are healthy fats. In a workout regimen or simple weight gain regimen to gain mass, 15%-25% of the calories should be from fat. Fats are often advertised as being bad because of how many people in America are overweight or obese when it is in fact a myth that a low-fat diet is the key to weight loss. Cutting calories is the key to weight loss and since fats are filling they can help curb over eating. I know it sound contradictory, but there's not really simple way to explain it.

This will help explain the difference between fats.

America is fat because it overeats and takes in an excess of processed grains and sugar. Saturated fats are NOT bad for you and are an essential part of a healthy diet. Humans didn't get where they are today eating processed grains and sugar...

From your link:

Saturated fats play the single greatest role in raising blood cholesterol and putting us at greater risk for heart disease.

Misleading at best. Sat fats DO raise cholesterol, HDL, good cholesterol. Second, high cholesterol is not the cause or even an indicator of heart disease. Article disregarded.

The worst thing about bacon is surely the salt?

Besides anything is bad in excess.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1386252
Quote:
To calculate the effect of changes in carbohydrate and fatty acid intake on serum lipid and lipoprotein levels, we reviewed 27 controlled trials published between 1970 and 1991 that met specific inclusion criteria. These studies yielded 65 data points, which were analyzed by multiple regression analysis using isocaloric exchanges of saturated (sat), monounsaturated (mono), and polyunsaturated (poly) fatty acids versus carbohydrates (carb) as the independent variables. For high density lipoprotein (HDL) we found the following equation: delta HDL cholesterol (mmol/l) = 0.012 x (carb----sat) + 0.009 x (carb----mono) + 0.007 x (carb---- poly) or, in milligrams per deciliter, 0.47 x (carb----sat) + 0.34 x (carb----mono) + 0.28 x (carb----poly). Expressions in parentheses denote the percentage of daily energy intake from carbohydrates that is replaced by saturated, cis-monounsaturated, or polyunsaturated fatty acids. All fatty acids elevated HDL cholesterol when substituted for carbohydrates, but the effect diminished with increasing unsaturation of the fatty acids. For low density lipoprotein (LDL) the equation was delta LDL cholesterol (mmol/l) = 0.033 x (carb----sat) - 0.006 x (carb----mono) - 0.014 x (carb----poly) or, in milligrams per deciliter, 1.28 x (carb----sat) - 0.24 x (carb----mono) - 0.55 x (carb---- poly). The coefficient for polyunsaturates was significantly different from zero, but that for monounsaturates was not. For triglycerides the equation was delta triglycerides (mmol/l) = -0.025 x (carb----sat) - 0.022 x (carb----mono) - 0.028 x (carb---- poly) or, in milligrams per deciliter, -2.22 x (carb----sat) - 1.99 x (carb----mono) - 2.47 x (carb----poly).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

That supports my HDL statement.

Next try this: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.p ... 255&page=1

I realize the link name seems biased, but it is a post FULL of scientific articles supporting what I've said. Not low-carber's opinions.

OnTopic: I only made and drank one protein shake this week despite hitting the gym Monday - Thursday. I felt like I had enough protein in my diet and didn't need much supplementation. I'm so farking sore right now from squats and deadlifts... I look crippled when I walk. :P

I take Maxus Night Time (low carb) Protien shakes. I don't have them too often, I buy a new tub (they come in a big bucket) every 6 months or so. I haven't had them in a fair while though as I'm struggling for the money atm. I'm an incredibly skinny guy, I weigh 65 kilos (143lbs) and I weigh in at about 173 cms (nearly 5 foot 7'). I have a fair bit of muscle though and not too much fat at all and over the last few years I've continued to put on muscle while losing some fat.

I never took my working out as seriously and metholodically as most people do, rather I learnt to read what my body thinks is right. I have a pretty healthy diet, I always ensure that I eat a lot of meat, at least 2 servings a day and I always eat a large amount of fruit and vegetables each day. I have the odd bit of processed sugary food, I don't mind a bit of a treat once a week, but I make sure that I don't have it too regularly. I always have believed that a little bit of everything is good for you and it's worked for me pretty well over the years.

I have no desire to be incredibly bulky, it doesn't really appeal to me at all. I'm quite content having a lean, defined body and my diet/working out methods have worked well for me.

@EvGa I thought your argument was that Saturated fats were good for you, not unsaturated. (First quote)

I wasn't saying cut out sat fats altogether because that's dam near impossible with normal eating habits, but that doesn't negate the fact that Unsaturated fats are a better choice long term hence why Sat Fats got dubbed "Bad". Side note I discovered: Polyunsaturated is apparently linked to breast cancer(Omega-6).

That's what the study is saying. "All fatty acids elevated HDL cholesterol when substituted for carbohydrates, but the effect diminished with increasing unsaturation of the fatty acids."

Remember, HDL is good cholesterol. Effects diminished with increasing unsaturation; aka, the more saturated the better at raising HDL. Your wiki link gave a link to this also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturated_ ... ontroversy What do I take from this and what I've read regarding cholesterol and CHD? Something else is the underlying cause / indicator of heart disease. I'd venture to say predisposition and stress play larger roles (causing inflammation in the arteries) than any thing fat, diet, or cholesterol related.

I read into your polyunsaturated study a little in a pubmed article. Interesting. It mentions the ratio of 6's to 3's beng important also.

I don't use any protein powder or protein supplements.
I prefer to natural and organic protein foods that are more beneficial for health, weight management, and muscles recovery.
