That is a LOT of time invested in training! But you can do it, as they said, with positive reinforcement.
We taught our dachshund to do the following:
-Sit, stay, come, touch - sits, stays, comes to you, touches his nose to your hand -Go see Mom, go see Dad - he knows us and knows who to go to when we tell him. He'll run over to us. -Get it! - chases chipmunks or squirrels, fun to watch him sit/stay and squirm before we let him go -Flip! - flips his bowl over for food -Dance -Cage - he runs into his cage, and opens the door if it's already shut -Speak - of course most dogs do that -Roll over -Shake - shakes your hand
We started working on "beer" but had to use plastic bottles so he could grip them. Plus when he opened the fridge he would pull so hard it would slam into the patio door glass :/
The last thing I am trying to teach him is to count. We do "One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready and four to go". He is supposed to sit and stay there until we say "Go", which he does - the tough part now is getting him to associate my counting on my fingers with the verbal commands at the same time.
